So your saying that Jost, a third to fouth line guy, Talbot a fringe starting goalie, and Dumba who is a top 4 D on our team and a top two D on others all are worth a third round pick. I think your off on your values a little bit.

What should they be? On this forum Dumba and Talbot are generally traded for 3rd rounders. I had no idea what Jost would bring, that was a shot in the dark.

Raty isn’t gonna be on the table with the 1st. Maybe Holmstrom but more likely Bellows or Wilde.

I think this is too much for Fiala. I have no problem giving up a 1st, but no Raty. I also would like to wait to trade the 2022 1st until we know Brad Lambert isn't available smile

According to Russo’s article and the article from an Isles guy (link in details) that’s the proposed “fair deal”.

I don’t think the Wild wait that long to pull the trigger. Ott 7OA is in play so I’d assume a trade would happen before then.

If you want Fiala, you’ve gotta pay. It feels like there will be a few teams bidding for him. So how do NYI beat OTT 7OA with only their first? By adding Raty. NJD also should be in the mix with a great prospect pool and 2 high draft picks. LAK another team, and who knows if someone else jumps in.

Russo doesn’t know **** about prospects and I don’t put any stock into some random Isles blogger.

Id love this package as a wild fan, but it seems way too far fetched. Raty had an excellent year.

This feels like a good deal for both teams. MN clears some cap and opens a spot for Addison. MN has been trying to trade Dumba for 2+ years asking for a 1st + and no one even sniffing that price tag. A 3rd now feels appropriate.

As I said above, that’s how Isles beat OTTs 7th ovr and not trade Wahlstrom. Russo gets his info from others around the league. He’s not just pulling it out of thin air.

I think Minnesota can get more than just a 3rd round pick for Dumba though.

We’ve been trying to trade him for 2+ seasons asking for a first + a prospect. No one has even come close to that. Leads me to believe a 2nd isn’t even on the table.

The only thing he said was “the Isles’ prospect pool doesn’t have much in the way of high end talent besides Raty.”

That’s it. That’s not him saying 1st + Raty is a fair deal. He’s just throwing out a blue chip name because half his reader base doesn’t even have a clue who Raty is.

I’m not trying to rag on Russo, but I think even he’d admit that he’s pretty out of touch on prospects league wide. The guy barely keeps up with Iowa, let alone euro leagues, CHL, etc.

I can appreciate that you’re just stirring up dialogue with this ACGM and I have no problem with that. But “Michael Russo said so” isn’t an argument for why something is a good trade.

Maybe from the standpoint of someone inside the Wild Org, but I promise he didn't hear that from anyone connected to the Islanders. No one knows what Lou is thinking, and he never leaks potential deals.

I personally wouldn't make this trade from an Islanders standpoint.

Isles trading their two most valuable farm assets would be insanely short sighted and why it doesn’t make sense. Believe that was his point. Sure maybe that’s how they beat it without losing pieces but it hinders the team overall outside of strictly the upcoming in terms of roster and flexibility with cap. @drmantalban ?

And that’s why I provided an additional resource. Which you conveniently also threw out lol. Reading the tea leaves from Isle fans it seemed like they wanted to keep Wahlstrom over Raty (Raty still a year away maybe?) Hence why I went with Raty instead of Wahlstrom in the package. If OTT offers 7 OA and a prospect, the Isles will have to beat that. Not sure how they beat that with anyone but Wahlstrom or Raty and the first. And if they don’t want to that’s fine, he’ll go to OTT or another place. Fiala has plenty of suitors and OTT has shown significant interest in him. Dorian is also pretty desperate to get them back to the playoffs.

Lou doesn’t usually trade “his guys”, I can’t see Wahlstrom or Raty included in a trade for Fiala. I can see him trading Beauvillier and a 2023 1st or 2022 1st, 2022 2nd + 2023 2nd.

I’m not sure Beauvillier does much for the Wild. We’ve got lots of LWs. Its actually a problem for us especially on the PP. Wild would want something else instead. If Isles don’t move off those 2, you probably don’t get Fiala.

Lol I disregarded the blog, because it’s a random Joe Blow who likes his team. He doesn’t have access to any other information than we do. As far as I’m concerned, he’s just as credible as anyone on this site.

I agree with you on a lot of what else you said, though. This is a good example of how to beat the OTT 7th OA. There will be multiple suitors. It’s not an outrageous opening ask in the negotiations. And there are some GMs with seats warming up.

I would be very happy with this return, but I just don’t think we get something quite this rich.

Yeah, I don’t know who that is so I can’t dispute the “Joe Blow” reference haha. So that’s fair. It does feel like OTT is where Fiala ends up. Just wonder what the package ends up being.

Isles dont move a 1st and wahlstrom or a 1st and raty. The athletic had an article about a potential fiala deal. And they actually used recent comps to figure out what the value of fiala would be.

Yeah I think it’s OTT, NYI or LAK. I don’t see it with the Devils or some of the fringe teams like Philly/ANA.

I hope the return is good. Fiala is a great player who I feel still has even more. His entire tenure here, he only got like 50 total games with competent linemates, which I think gets overlooked by a lot of non Wild fans.

I think whoever gets him, fans are gonna pretty surprised at how good he actually is once they get to see him night in, night out.
