God. No!

Slaf isnt a slam dunk. Habs arent competing the next 2 years with that defence. You're looking at another top5 pick next year which has more value than this years 2OA as you have 2 generational players available in 2023

Harris isnt getting close to that number

So Montreal has been drooling over Ghule, he’s a ten year future pro, he’s an eventual top 4 and you want to trade him away?

Im waiting for a delusional Devils fan to reject this trade because Anderson is 'overpaid 'without even looking at the other assets lmao

I like Guhle a lot. He's gonna be a top 4 D. But we have Romanov & Edmundson for the next few years and honestly I think you need to give value to get value.

I think Slafkovsky is gonna be like Tage Thompson in a few years and I would def make that same trade for Tage Thompson.

Its a crazy risk for a lottery team unless you are guaranteeing they are not picking top5. Protected pick means nothing as it will probbaly transfer to 2024, another great draft class. The opportunity to draft a Bedard or Michkov instead of Tage Thompson lite is too good to throw away! Habs fans have been begging to tank for a generational talent like Bedard or Michkov for decades. Most Habs fans would be up in arms if you trade that 2023 1st rounder for a maybe in Slaf. With covid, this draft class is more of a toss up than ever. There are too many questions with so many of these prospects. Wright stands out as a solid number 2 center because of the lack of scouting in the last few years makes most of these prospects huge gambles.

NJ says thanks, but no thanks.

Make zero sense from Devils perspective. If we trade #2, it’s for assets to help us now, not a few years from now. And trading #2 for an unknown pick would be looney tunes. Josh Anderson doesn’t really move the needle, if anything it moves against. And we have plenty of defensive prospects that we’d prefer over Guhle.

Why move a definite 2OA selection for a bad winger (who is incredibly overpaid), a meh defensive prospect (which we have several of already), and a pick that will be in an unknown slot in 2023…?

He doesn’t move the needle on a 2OA trade.
Like, he isn’t a bad prospect, he just has the same ceiling as guys we have in the system, but with a higher draft pedigree.

Pick 2OA isn’t going to be traded for a player who might have middle tier production as a main piece, when they can just select a guy in the draft that has a higher ceiling and bet on that instead.

My guy.... We are giving you premium ticket for Connor Bedard. Maybe another C, but a hell of a good one. A team cannot reject something like this

There’s no actual guarantee that the pick becomes Conor Bedard. For all we know, the team can play itself out of a good lotto position. That’s a huge risk, for under a 20% chance of getting Bedard if the Habs finish dead last

My gawd. Even if you didnt want Guhle, He could easily be traded for another 1st rounder this year, he's an asset. You dont need 1st rounders?! You realize that you can trade them like you know a bargaining chip. Guhle will be captain of team Canada at WHJC in August. He's a top pair D in the making!

Then, theres the fact that you are saying you need help now but you are keeping a pick for a project like Slaf. That makes no sense, indeed.

I mean, ok. The DEvils would never be offered this anyways but the mental gymnastics is something.

Its 25% chance of number 1 as the 5 teams that dont make the playoffs at12-16 spots can only move up 10 spots.

There's also this guy named Michkov that is a generational talent right behind Bedard. This is actually the one season to tank and count on finishing last as you can only move down 2 spots which would have finishing last give you over a 50% chance of getting Bedard or Michkov.

Great a winger that's going to take 5 years to come out of "bust" talks. As far as we know there's an even chance between Tage being legit or Tage being a one year wonder at this time looking at his track record. Even if we have other guys doesn't mean you trade the next one up when you aren't competing, you usually trade the older to make space for the cost controlled youth. You trade Edmundson in a year or two if you need his spot when he's looking to get 6M+ on his extension and let someone else pay for it while you enjoy your 950k top 4.

This is a lot better than most of the other offers, though I have absolutely no interest in Anderson and Guhle is, in my opinion, overrated.

But that unprotected 23 first is absolutely the best asset dangled in any of these bad 2OA offers.

As NHLfan10506 said though, the Devils likely don't do it due to timelines and having a "bird in the hand"
