Description
Calgary can't do a complete teardown but they move on from their core after Gaudreau makes it clear he won't be returning. Calgary tries to recoup assets on Toffoli. Lucic has contemplated retirement in season before so I wouldn't be shocked if he hangs it up after this.

      Negotiating rights will be free for every team. Player rights for rest of 2021-22 so they can extend at 8 vs sign at 7.

      Devils won’t be signing Gaudreau, so they wouldn’t trade for his rights. Maybe try Philly.

      My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that the rule on 8 year extensions changed this year, and that the player has to be on the team before the trade deadline to be eligible for an 8 year deal.

      Could be completely wrong though...just feel like I read that.
