I get it but Detroit is all set with RHDs. Petry isn't going to jump Seider or Hronek and that leaves him in the 3rd pair ahead of Lindstrom. Now given the fact that Detroit is not a playoff team yet why stunt Lindstrom's development for a 34yr Dman with a cap hit over $6M. Yzerman isn't going to give up any assets for Petry especially since he isn't flippable. No one is flippable at 34 with a $6M cap hit. Yzerman got a 2nd for Stall and gave up nothing. The he traded a 2nd and a cap dump for Leddy and at the TDL he got a 2nd, Sundqvist and Walman. The is now way to come out ahead trading for Petry. I'm sorry but the only way Yzerman brings Petry is with a 2nd or a 1st and Montreal getting future considerations. With Montreal's draft position I doubt they give up a 2nd or a 1st to move Petry. I'm sorry but I think it's time to accept Petry won't be going to Detroit and especially id he has to give up any assets to get him.
