Agree because of its length, Skinner had 30+ goals last season so his contract was not that much of a burden. Ralph Kreuger put Skinner on the 4th line the 2 prior seasons which is why his numbers dipped. Granatto put him back on the top line with a legit center and he all of a sudden found the back of the net again. I dont hate this deal though, Skinner will probably be a bit of an anchor in two years when the Sabres will need to pay Power, Samulsson, Cozens, Quinn, Krebs, and Peterka, so it is tempting from a long-term stand point.

Skinner scored 33 goals for us
We are not looking to get rid of him
And we don’t want Myers

We can always buy him out if we have to

Not all our young guys are gonna get big 2nd contracts anyways, so the Cap shouldn’t be an issue for us regardless

Doesn't really matter since Skinner wouldn't waive and I doubt they'd ask him to. He wants to be near home and basically wanted to be in Buffalo or Toronto.

Skinner just need the right team mates, if you look he produces with Eichel. The Kruger move him and he would get opportunities but had no one to keep up with him. Then with the Eichel trade and him getting more playing time he was much better.

I got told by a few Canucks fans here last ACGM that Tyler Myers was good last season and not a negative asset with his deal. I just stopped responding as there's nothing to say to such insanity without middle ground. He started the year strong with OEL and then fell off a cliff. The deal is bad. They need help on the right side but Myers is not the answer by default.

Sabres fans are just as delusional here, a Skinner cap dump would be massive even without contending in the next few years making the cap hit irrelevant in the scheme of things. 5 years is an anchor of a deal.

I wouldnt be psyched to do this deal if I was a fan in Buffalo but the Sabres would be crazy not to take it as you just have 2 more years of Myers in a rebuild phase.
