Not too sure on the exact value of this deal. I do know that both are worth anywhere from a 2nd to a late first, so I imagine a deal centered around these two players would make sense. One of the sides probably has to add a bit though, idk who though.

Yeah Detroit doesn't even consider that at all. No need for Petry in Detroit and they are not giving up a 22 year old with potential for a guy that would be sitting in the press box every night.

Edmonton doesn't even consider either.

Not one of these trades makes sense for any of the other teams and the ones you said wherever the value is too high.

DAL declines that. We won't take Hoffman for free, much less pay for him. Even retained. Same goes to Armia. We have better use for our cap.

Lmao Petry is overpaid for sure but he'd definitely be in your lineup and a top3 D in your team. This is just complete bs.

Edmonton has Smith signed for next season and Skinner waiver eligible. If Smith retires or ends up on LTIR, I could see Edmonton moving Pulju/Yamamoto for a goalie, but not for one year of Jake Allen.

3 years on petry is just too long. If it was 1 even 2 I'd think sbout it but 3 is going to start getting in the way of the cap.

Detroit says No F'n Way, one of the worst trade offers I have seen... You want this trade to happen your tossing in next years 1st as well. Petry has negative value where as Zadina is still in a boom/bust opportunity with an amazing team friendly contract coming up. Please explain to me HOW each team would actually benefit from this trade? The only thing you got right was his contract will likely be around $1.5M for 2 years.

Literally there is NO risk in keeping Zadina, him sucking and just letting him walk later compared to getting a contract from Montreal for a player who is not even remotely close to the age or style of the core making him useless to detroit... My fix for your trade offer is keeping Zadina and giving Staal another contract for 1 year at $2M.

Ill help explain.. your offer is the same as: Detroit offering you Danny Dekeyser with 2 years at $6.2M for Rem Pitlick... WHAT WOULD DEKEYSER DO FOR MONTREAL? the same as Petry would do in Detroit.

Even though I feel like there's nothing remotely comparable between what you're proposing and what is proposed above, my comment wasn't on the trade itself but on Petry being in the pressbox. He'd be Detroit's 2nd best D by a quite a fair margin.

You're totally delusional, Look at Petry's first 4 years in Edmonton compared to Hroneks first 4 years in Detroit. And Hronek is far superior it took Petry like 9 years to hit 40 points and Hronek in his 4th season missed 40 by 2. I'll take Hronek over Petry any day of the year.

That's not relevant to the conversation at all and it's comical that you, of all people, are calling others delusional. The fact that Petry peaked later in his career than Hronek doesn't make him worse right now.

No, But it means that Hronek was better at the beginning of his career on the worst scoring team in the league. And will only get better as the team improves. Still better than Petry.

Let's see, for our right side we have Seider, Hronek and Lindstrom who are all better and much younger than Petry. Even if you feel Petry is slightly better than one or two of those guys, why the hell would we play him? How would the team benefit in the long run? Petry to Detroit trades our stupid unless they have significant compensation coming back their way to take on that contract.

Dallas only has one right handed dman signed for next year send him the for like Peterson or something.

Only Seider is better than him of those three. Hronek is about equal, although granted he has more value due to his age and contract.

I'd take Petry if we had more cap space and could find a fair deal. But alas, we do not.

Lindstrom is a different type of dman, he's way better defensively than Petry. Granted he will never put up alot of points but he's good in his own zone and is good at break out passes.

Also Dallas has 40M in cap space next year, that's alot.

Edmonton was also not a powerhouse at the beginning of Petry's career. The latter was also more of a two-way defenseman while Hronek has awful defensive metrics. And again I'm talikng about right now, Petry would be Detroit's 2nd best defenseman not "maybe Hronek will grow better". So no, Petry "wouldn't be in the pressbox each game" and if he is, it means Detroit would be icing significantly worse defensemen and this is what I was arguing.

Neither Hronek or Lindstrom are better defensemen than Petry, this is insanity. If Detroit rather ice their younger defensemen in hopes of them becoming better it's understandable, but they're not better at the moment than Jeff Petry. You could just say Petry doesn't fit Detroit's timeline or Detroit would rather give that icetime to their young Ds, but Petry being in the pressbox in Detroit is a plain wrong take.

Short term yes, long-term no. There's a plenty of contracts to re-sign in the next 2 years with Benn's albatross deal expiring in three. We need to be pretty mindful in where we invest the money.
