what could this combo bring back

Description
if the Bruins decided to trade Carlo and Debrusk as a package what could that bring us back? does it get close to someone like Barzal who put up 60 points and needs a new deal? does it open the door on JT MIller? given lysell makes the jump next season or the one after do we target a short term RW? i think center is the most important area to address.

What is this? Isles don’t even entertain it. Barzal has 1 year left on his contract and he put up 60 points with no wingers in a Trotz system.

Wake up lol

They wouldn’t, but i don’t think it’s crazy…not because of what boston is offering, but I because I think the league kind of figured out barzal. He had that 85 point second campaign, and since then its kind of been trending backwards. I don’t think he’s a 1C at this point. Very high end 2C that’s going to get you 60 points.

That said, i just can’t see the isles trading him.

Brock Nelson but he will become a winger once Raty plays in the NHL

It's less the league figured him out and more he went from putting up 86 points as a 20 year old rookie in Doug Weight's all-offense-all-the-time "system" to playing in Trotz's defense first system (with a rotating cast of wings this year no less). Playing in a more balanced system with decent wings, he's probably close to a point per game guy.

Top four D and their first line winger. Both 25 and signed for multiple years.

I am NOT advocating for this trade and I thought i made that clear. Barzal has been that 60 point guy for four consecutive years, including two years when the islanders went to the conference finals.

I don’t think that’s a remotely fair assessment of Barzal. And the offer is absolutely insane.

Legit top centermen can score while playing defensively.

There’s nothing more ironic than a guy calling himself McAvoy ripping into the Island. Just thank us for giving him to u and stop being a clown.

We have a strength at RD, don’t need Carlo. And Debrusk is not a top line winger

i think its most likely we see both of them, but once Bailey and Palms are gone we will have a core of:
Barzal, Lee, Beau, Wahly, Raty, Pageau, Dufour, Bellows, Cizikas, Nelson. Most likely we see Nelson move to Barzal to give him a lethal shooter along side Wahly. Could also see us trading Pageau and running those 3 as a 1-2-3 center core

I don’t have an issue with either idea. Hopefully Lambert gives Barzal a chance to prove himself defensively next year. I think he is more than ready to step up on that end.

I have an irrational emotional attachment to Josh Bailey and Nick Leddy. But even I’m not as crazy as this McAvoy guy is.

I also have a deep mistrust of the analytics lol. What do the analytics guys know that a 22 year old beer league hockey player doesn’t? 😂😜

Sure... and i really like both players. I should have been more clear, I meant more in the long term. Also, with this past year being a step back for them - it may be a fluke and they may compete next year, but if it isn't you have to start moving pieces potentially like JG, etc. I shouldve just said that Barzal is too much of an importnat piece for NYI in the present and in the future to really consider moving. Have to get a ridiculous package back, or he would need to pull and Eichel to get moved.
