If WSH isn't on petrys no trade list then I imagine MTL would accept this.

Having negative cap space while simply stashing Hagelin and Backstrom on LTIR doesn’t just make you impossible to play against, it’s impossible to ice this team. However, Buffalo does make that trade.

Yeah I wasn't really worried about the cap, I actually think the Kadri and Domi signings would be a bit less than I estimated, something like 6.75 and 3.75 so there you go

Also Hagelin literally can't see out of one eye, and the Backstrom hip problem sounds to have the potential to be career threatening

TBH that is a great offer for Petry and I would be happy to do it, and it is likely the value Hughes is looking for, unfortunately there are 3 issues with your offer 1. You are going to get a lot of hate on here for giving up so much 2. Montreal would want a RD prospect or Winger prospect instead. Even if we needed to add a little to make it work. So maybe like Petry + Montreal's 2022 2nd for Iorio + 2022 1st or Lapierre + 2022 1st 3. I am not sure Hughes will retain on Petry.

That’s way too much for Petry, even with the retention. Also too much for Gibson IMO, but it seems I’m just about the only person on this site who isn’t pretending the last three years never happened. And what the hell is Hathaway doing on the 2nd line?

The first trade was too much (in the original team) but now you are asking for Caps top prospects? No way.
Just for your knowledge, Alexeyev plays both LD and RD and actually played more on the right this season in the AHL.

Substitute Martin Fehervary for Axel Jonsson-Fjallby and Anaheim would consider.

I wasn't asking for anything, I was saying that Alexeyev does not fit a need (LD) even if he plays the right side as well we already have like 5 LD that can do that. We need a natural RHD not just a fill in LD playing his off side as we already have that. I also didn't just ask for something without giving up something, I added the 33rd pick in this years draft. Petry retained is worth the Caps 1st + an early 2nd (34-45) I added the 33rd pick which brought the value up to about 2 mid\late 1st round picks. Since the Caps 1st this year is 20th that is 1 mid/late 1st and Lapierre was taken 22th OVA last year that makes the 2nd mid/late 1st. Iorio was taken late in the 2nd round and has increased his value to MAYBE a late 1st tops, so the value is spot on. Not sure what you are complaining about!

I feel like everyone under values trades so I figured wth throw out a trade atleast people agree would go above and beyond to get it done. Hathaway is on the second line because he and Kadri would be a damn pain in ars to play against.

I just don't see a 1st and either Lap or Iorio worth a 34 year old who hasn't played a full season in the last 3 years (and had a pretty sub-par year last year). I think an Alexeyev-type prospect and a first is the most anyone should give up for Petry (I understand you do not want a LHD so that is why I said Alexeyev-type prospect).

Also (side note), just because Lap and Iorio weren't early first doesn't mean their value is where they were picked. it is about potential and production - which both are highly regarded within the Caps org...
