I think those are all fair points, for what its worth I had Jersey being the second wildcard coming into the season. Speaking of Blackwood what do you think the price for him would be atm?
That's incredibly hard to say without the Devils having a goalie they know they can go to. if the Devils acquired a goalie like Campbell in free agency or some other equivalent that needs to be traded from their current team, then maybe I'd have more an idea. At this point, he's the only goalie the Devils have to run with next year as Bernier may be done and I wouldn't want to hand off to Dawes yet.
At worst the Devils into next year with Blackwood and Dawes as the two goalies and see if Dawes getting more rest than having to play what I think was three back to backs and however many in a row total can put together a decent season.
For me, I wouldn't want to trade Blackwood in any case (unless a team blew me out of the water) as I have seen the potential, but I don't know how much was mental this past season, how much was his heel, and how much was him being what he is.
The way I look at it is, the Devils should get a Campbell, Husso, or whatever 1A goalie, any UFA probably being at least four years. If it is a Talbot (if they tried to move him to keep Fleury say), then it's only one year. Blackwood is what he is next season, for better or worse, no excuses. If he flies, then we run a two goalie system for the next four years or so. If he sucks, then move him for whatever they can get and go ahead with Dawes.
