Description
At this point, it seems as though Hextall is here to say. As he as already signed a major contract and has addressed the media, speaking as if he is the guy.

So this roster is based off of the things he said in his presser today. The number one thing he said is that he is planning on bringing back Geno and Tanger, and I think it will happen. Both players will meet in the middle with contracts, tanger taking a bit less money for more term - like rust. Hextall said he would consider making a move to open cap space. I think it is pretty obvious this is one of the LD. Pettersson Matheson and Dumo all making 4M. I think petterson would be the one to be traded, as Matheson is the best and Dumo has a NMC (i also think dumo staying would be important in keeping letang). Maybe MAF wants more, but I think he will take a big discount if it meant keeping the band together (if he does just take it off geno).

Hextall also mentions Puustinen, Poulin and POJ as players who could make the jump to the NHL this season, so I included them. The forwards will also be competing with Zo, O'connor, and Nylander, but I will use the 2 Hexy mentioned. I think this team will try to utilize the young guys on cheap contracts as opposed to bringing back all of their RFA's, as they would make more. As for Kapanen, he will be dealt.

Bottom 6 could be arranged in literally any way. It was important to get domi who has can play center incase Carter falls off a cliff, carter could still take the draws in that case

This is meant to be a realisitic scenario, if it were up to me I would be a bit more bold haha. I would probably look at a miller trade.

I do too, but I just bumped it up a bit because I see a lot of people undervaluing him on here, like 5-5.5.

McGinn isn’t going anywhere.

I could definitely see Kappy and one of Pettersson or Dumoulin traded though.

I think the Pens are stuck with Zucker as well. And I’m a Zucker fan; just a bad string of injuries and can’t stay healthy. But I see a lot of Pens fans on here trading him. Maybe at the Trade deadline he gets moved at 50% retention.

Pens definitely resign more RFA as well. They resign RFA Heinen, they resign RFA Nylander. Definitely resign RFA Cam Lee, definitely resign RFA Bjorkqvist as well. Probably UFA Angello and Boyle for league min too.

But all of those RFA(except Heinen) will be for just their QO.

1. I don't think mcginn it is very likely mcginn gets traded, but I just think it isnt worth it to be paying him 2 mil more than Puustinen and Poulin. I would much rather have a number of guys like domi, paul, mikkeyev. crouse ect who would cost only a little more.

2. I am also a zucker fan, it took a lot of balls to play through what he played through in the playoffs. I think he is a legit middle 6 player too, when healthy. I think this guy is a competitor and he will come to camp ready to go. I do not see the point of trading him if you are going to retain, sure he isn't worth 5.5, but he is surely worth 2.75. When healthy he is much much better than mcginn, heck he might have been better than mcginn while injured and he was being held together by duct tape and elmers glue

3. I completely agree that they resign more rfa as well. I just only went through signing the ones who I had in the lineup for game 1. The only resigning I would maybe disagree with would be boyle. I love the guy, but I think it may be time for him to hang em up. Don't get me wrong, he exceeded my expectations more than any other player this year, but I just think he had some heavy boots before his injury and I wonder if he has what it takes to come back

I agree with everything u said too. McGinn is super fast and him and Blueger play the way Sully loves. It’s not likely he gets traded and Puustinen and Poulin are probably ready and deserve a NHL roster spot. But u have to play the PK if you play on Sully’s 4th line too. Neither do.

It’s why OConnor was sent down. Specifically to get PK experience so he can play on the 4th line. If he played on the PK he would’ve played alot more. It’s why Bjorkqvist and Hallander got NHL PT last season too. Sully’s 4th line gotta play the PK.

Completely agree with Zucker. Again, super fast and pesky as hell. Just ran into a string of bad luck injuries here. Never even was able to get going and even able to build chemistry on a line. If we are retaining, I agree. Keep him. Like I said, maybe at the TD(and that’s depending on a lot of things too).

I agree with Boyle as well. Definitely over exceeded expectations. Especially on the PK. I just don’t think you can go wrong with him and Angello at league min again. And Boyle should definitely be in the press box playing against young, fast teams. Like the Rangers or Colorado.

Copy and paste quote..

“One of the areas that I’ve spoken about this year with respect to Drew is just adding the penalty-kill dimension,” Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. “Especially if you’re playing a bottom-six role on our team, to have the ability to participate on one of the special teams gives us the chance to manage minutes better with respect to the rest of the group that we have so that we can sustain a high level of play and we don’t overplay guys in certain situations. I know that he’s working on that (with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton).

Puustinen and Poulin don’t fit on Sully’s 4th line. Although I’m a fan of both and think offensively much greater than McGinn. Puustinen is a top 6 for the Pens and Poulin probably starts off on the 3rd line for the Pens. That’s my opinion. But that quote was copied and pasted from Sullivan.
