An injured player being worth a 2nd is bananas.

Not quite sure Drouin is worth that 2nd either...

Hard pass on Armia. I do like his physical game, but he's overpaid by a lot. The Pens are about to be free and clear of Zucker's contract. No reason to trade him for another overpayment that lasts another three years.

CHI is gonna ride that Jones contract through it's entirety. They paid so much for it it's way too late for them to fold now.

I don't see much incentive for ARI, SEA and PIT to accept these moves either.

J'ai fait l'échange en pensant que vous économiser 2 millions sur le cap salariale et Armia serait un bon fit avec Malkin.

Hawks decline. Not really close. Sure jones is overpaid by a mil but he's still a top pair D and the hawks have proven they can't develop one so they overpaid one.

If Bowman were the GM, then I'd say that's 100% true. But with Davidson, if he can find a taker for that contract that nets him a 1st + and he doesn't see Jones as the answer long-term for #1d, I could see him moving him. It wasn't his move, and he may have well not agree with it in the first place.

I'm not saying this deal specifically, but if you guys are ripping it down and had a taker for Jones you wouldn't take it or is it just this deal?

Perhaps, but I'm still pretty sure that they're gonna ride out at least the good years out of it.

Even if it was the former GMs doing, CHI would completely lose face if they moved Jones this early. And they're already having some bad PR with the recent scandal they were in the middle of.

He said the reasoning behind the trade is that it saves the Pens 2M against the cap and he thinks Armia would fit well with Malkin

Ah, thank you. Well, he's wrong lol. It doesn't save money. It adds $3.4M passed the 22/23 season when we'd be free of Zucker.

He's also wrong that Armia would be a good fit with Malkin. Armia is a 4th line/borderline 3rd line player making $3.4M. Bad fit for a team like the Pens.

Hawks fan here. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Davidson moved on from Jones. He is the type of player a contending team goes out and gets. CHI is definitely not that. Yes, CHI gave up a lot for him, but If they could recoup something like this, it wouldn't be out of the question. You'd probably have to switch out Norlinder with a higher end forward prospect and more. Also, that 1st round pick is very late.

They paid more than this for Jones with no contract. If a team offered a fair price for top pair right D with an 8 year contract then the hawks would have to consider it. But I can't see any team paying that much for Jones at the moment

Biondi, Mysak, Ylonen, Roy, Ty Smith, Stapley, and Tuch would probably be the most interesting forward pieces to CHI. If it's defensemen, CHI has a log jam of Left handed dmen. We need right handed d prospects/young players or ones that can play the right side effectively. So, in that case Barron, Romanov, Kostenko, Mailloux, Sobolev... Struble and Norlinder would be exceptions. but there is just something missing in that trade and I can't quite put my finger on how to make it work.

Yeah. Like SociallyHawkward said, it is hard to envision anyone paying what CHI would want for him right now.
