Nobody is paying to have Weber dumped on them. Arizona gives a 5th for a 36yr old Dman with a cap hit of $7.9M x 4 and he hasn't played a game in over a year. Come on now you can't really think that will happen.

Petry to the isles makes no sense. Isles have 12 mill in cap space. Dobson will get between 5-7 mill

Isles need a LD not a RD like Petry. So obviously they pass.

It isnt just cap space but sure make that your only argument. They also need to field a lineup, Dobson isnt the only one to sign. They have depth D, backup goalie among others. to acquire and very little cap. The Isles had a lot of problems moving the puck last season, Petry will help enormously instead of Chara

Petry isn't a good fit since Isles are really strong at RD. And they can get pretty good value out of Beuvellier and Varlamov if they were to trade them, without taking any salary back.

Well considering as presently constituted petry would be the 4th RHD on the isles no thanks.

You argued that it was for cap space.12 mill is more than enough to sign Dobson and depth

The isles have Pulock, Dobson, and Mayfield on the right side - and both Pulock and Dobson are better puck movers than Petry. The isles don’t need a a defenseman making over 6 mill to play on the 3rd pair. They have enough puck movers, simply replacing Chara with an average defenseman will make the difference. P

Beauvilier has never scored 40 points in any season to date. He isnt progressing and the isles have a ton of depth scoring without his empty promise. Varlamov is a overpaid backup goalie atm.

Petry is far more valuable than both as top 4 RHD that had 4 straight seasons with 40 points or more as a dman til this past season where he still finished with 21 pts in his last 28 games once MSL was the coach and he got his D partner in Edmundson back from injury.

Look at Weber's contract, he counts for 7.9M against the cap, but only cost 6M over the next 4 years.

7.9 x 4 = 31.6
31.6 - 6 = 25.6M

That's 25.6M they could save in real money if they put him on IR instead of LTIR.

What I meant is that Isles easily can trade those players for assets they need more than Petry.

Still not sure why you brought that up because my post clearly said CAP HIT and since the cap can only go up $1M for the next couple of seasons it's the cap hit that matters.

You said nobody would pay for Weber, which is false. That's why i brought up the money.

I think Coyotes owners care more about real money than cap hit. That's why they're always close to 62M cap floor, and they could even be under with Weber's contract.

That's why i think Arizona is the only team that would have interest in Weber.

I agree with you they would not give assets, but i think they would take a small cap dump for Weber's contract.

If they trade Chychrun and even Keller this summer, they're gonna have so much cap space.

Anyway, sorry if i bothered you with that answer. I know we can't give money in trades anymore by the way. smile

Agreed. The Yotes need to reach the cap floor. It aint complicated. That's why there's rumours of players like Josh Bailey going to the Yotes. They only have 40 million in spent cap for next season
