Some people are gonna rag on Campbell for the contract he’s gonna sign (it’s gonna be pretty big imo - maximize value) - but he deserves to take care of his family.

Doesn't Giordano deserve to take care of his family too?

This might be the last time he signs an NHL contract before he retires.

He could have got 3 million per year on the open market easily and be taxed a lot less.

Instead, he's going to be playing at close to league minimum for the next 2 years.

And the government is going to take away 50% of it.

All for the glory of playing for his hometown team.

Mark Giordano is 2 years from retirement.

Jack Campbell probably has another 8-10 years left. Therefore he's not taking that joke of an offer that helps the Leafs with their current cap situation.

Gio has made $60 + million in his career,

Campbell has made $5+ million in his career.

Campbell should take the same "me first" approach to UFA like Zach Hyman did.

Giordano being 2 years away from retirement is irrelevant.

He could have got 3 million per year on the open market and be taxed a lot less somewhere.

Instead, he took "a joke of an offer".

This is what happens when you live/grow-up in a socialist country, the state comes before your family and in this case the leafs come first then the state and then if there is anything left you can give a few crumbs to your family

Mark Giordano has made close to $62,000,000 over the course of his career, So money probably wasn't an issue with him.

Gio has made more like 20 million after taxes, escrow, etc.

Gio should have took a "me first" approach too.

Yeah he summed it up pretty well.

You’re telling a NHL LIFER, with ad deals and forever more to take only a couple million.

Then you’re telling a guy who’s been in the NHL for basically a blink to not earn millions of dollars and instead make just a couple million. Huge difference if someone offered YOU 20mil or 2 mil.

Huge difference that isn’t taken into consideration.

Gio might as well have signed for league minimum.

And then threw his league minimum salary into the fireplace like Granny from Bugs Bunny.
