Apparently Friedman is saying Leafs offered Giordano 1 million per and he declined to take less.
This man, has my admiration like nothing else.
You might want to be more clear because that is a confusing sentence. Gio declined the million and signed for less because he wants the team to have the chance to make the roster better.
He really wants to win in Toronto and is doing everything he can to help.
Gio can play right and left, also Sandin could start to learn to play the right if it came down to it.
Though I'm no really in favour of a player learning a "new side" by the time he comes into the NHL.....you're right, Sandin could be a good candidate.to go the right.
I'm hoping the Leafs have told him and so he can work on the right side this summer.
In some ways, I wish the Nylander would work on his centre skills. Just gives the Leafs more flexibility in case of injury.

I agree, if he was responsible enough defensively I could see them letting JT do the faceoff and Nylander playing the position. I just dont think he can handle the responsibility.
I think the last few years have shown that you need at least 7 solid D men because injuries to the blue line are common. Giordano will be at least that for the duration of this contract.
