Filip Forsberg gets that from Nashille, Not on the open market which will be closer to $9,500,000 per long term.

Once again the Rangers don't have the cap to afford to give J. T. Miller $8,500,000 x 8 years without moving out one of Kreider or Trouba and they're stuck with them for another 2 seasons.

What’s the reasoning behind the Dermott trade? Thought he’s played pretty well at a low cap hit

Also Vancouver probably says no with that Garland trade

The problem is the cap. Please make an agm for the next two seasons with Miller on the Rangers extended at $8-8.5 mil and see what the rest of the roster looks like. I’ll save you the time, there’s too much big money already signed on the team for another huge contract. If you don’t believe me, by all means spray me in an agm for 23-24 that shows Miller and Laf signed to new contracts. Not tryna be an ass, but the cap is a very real thIng that is gonna make the Rangers life harder the next couple of years.

He's on LTIR and essentially retired. 1 year left, LTIR, owed less dollars than the cap hit. That checks all the boxes that the Boychuk contract did for this year. Buffalo say thanks and accepts to reach the cap floor.

I know that the Rangers aren’t the best fit for Miller because of the cap, but there are quite a few Rangers fans who act like Schneider is already a superstar defenseman and the most valuable player in the league. I saw on an ACGM earlier a Rangers fan who said Miller at 50% retained and a 1st for Schneider would be fair, with the Canucks maybe adding to that.

Yeah that one seems kinda ridiculous. It’s like the Leafs, contracts were signed before COVID with the expectation the cap would rise considerably and unfortunately that hasn’t been the case which has led to a far more precarious cap situation for many teams around the league.

I have a creative solution; Miller for Laf?

Or they just sign actual players... they needed Boychuck because it was mid November. So again, you can pay or keep him

They needed Boychuk because losing Eichel put them below the cap floor. They need to add pretty significant salary to reach the cap floor for next season with only a handful of players to sign and several kids expected to make the roster (Quinn and Peterka). VO will get a raise, and UPL might get a small increase. Even if they add a decently sized contract for a goalie, a RD and a 4C they are still very likely to be below the floor. Ferland adds a contract that doesn't block the kids from getting icetime, which if you listen to Adams press conferences seems to be the priority again for next season (Getting the kids ice time to develop).

When I said Miller and Laf, I was referring to K’Andre Miller and Laf. Show me these guys signed with a Miller extension and the quality of the depth of the rest of the team. If I was Drury I’d be concerned with that. 2-3 guys can’t win a cup. It takes an entire team.

I've done 100s of teams and not ran into an issue yet. They need a good goalie, they can spend a lot of money there, as well as a solid d man that can play on the right
