The team is about to lose a PPG player as a cap casualty because of it. That’s pretty bad
You do understand that the deadcap merely replaces what their contracts would of cost in AAV on the roster anyway, right?
Guerin saved $10M in cap expenditures between both players for this year alone, $1.2M next year, and $332k during the 23' and 24' seasons.
In effect he's
saving money, but effectively loses 2 roster spots because of it. He also gains cap certainty for the next 4 years when there wasn't any before that. Given that either player could send the Wild into potentially far worse cap hell if either decided to retire early and the team hit with cap recapture penalties because of it.
Then there's the fact that both players are lockerroom cancers. It's well publicized that the team now is much tighter and closer-knit now then when those two held reign.
Then there's this. Which is basically what Wild fans expected to be true of, and thought was the case all along.
