In the situation where they're currently in it just doesn't make sense for them to move Chinakhov and that first. CBJ won't be contending until Nylander's contract expires.

I'm just very skeptical about it. Merzlikins had a rough year and he'll get a pass but there's honestly other issues they need to iron out first.

That 6th overall is not going to make an immediate impact, it'll take a while.

Their defense was straight up bad, they had 5th worst goals against number league-wide last year.

They don't have massive issues with scoring (they're around league average), so I think adding Nylander, while it can be considered a strengthening, it's strengthening a part of their game that don't really need help. Just about the only thing Nylander will strengthen is their PP because Nylander frankly is strictly a PP point merchant (49 out of 80 points last year were scored on PP).

They're a young team and imo they should not rush. This move would suggest they're doing exactly that.

Defense can definitely be better BUT merzlikins playing through PTSD I think amplified the defensive problems and made them worse than they were, boqvist missed some time and is going snd getting better bean is also getting better. If they can fine a top shut down guy liked cernak (for example) they would be a very strong team (I also don’t like Brad Larson as coach I think someone else would do a lot better)

Well TB will not be moving Cernak, he's exactly the kinda guy they need.

Larson will get replaced over time. But imo that's just what they need. Time.

Kekäläinen is building a great prospect pool for them. CBJ is a future team.

I don't think Nylander is worth that much. I get that the mrazek dump is in here but it seems like a lot. He's also a UFA in 2 years and I don't think CBJ would do this

I could see Columbus moving 12 as part for Nylander but I don’t think Chinakov is going anywhere anytime soon, I’m also not sure Nylander makes Columbus that much better, we need to fix the defence first, we did have a top 15 offense but also had a bottom 5 defence and I think we have up the second most goals at 5v5 to only Arizona. So I would expect Jarmo to stay the corse or make a move for a defenseman like Provorov or Chychrun before making a move for Nylander. I also don’t think Columbus is in a spot to put that much into a player with only 2 year on his contract.
