-points are mid, and the fancies showed a huge decline this year.
-You can find better defenders on the market for a similar price in a trade, or for half the price in UFA.

thanks for listing argument! but the question is, have you looked at the price for defenseman in the last 2 years? ristolainen, manson, chiarot, savard, giordano, were all traded for more than a second round pick. all had 1 year left. and personally, i would take dumba any over any them.

well if everyone is ''overpriced'', no one is really. you are worth what you fetch. you can all argue all night someone is not worth that price but what you really mean to say is you dont want him for a second, which is alright. but history show he is 100% wortha second (and plus). its ok if you dont think your team should not pay for it though

If you were to add teams that can spend whatever the owner wants (if he decides to treat the team like a vanity project instead of a business), then you can have an even bigger list.

Another factor here is that Minnesota is entering an offseason where cap casualties are essentially going to need to happen. Every single one of those other defensemen came from a team that would have been able to afford to keep them. His value will definitely be less in a trade than your comps

we'll see. i agree they have less leverage but i think fiala is more likely to go according than dumba based on guerin's comment. only one of them will be going and i thinks i will probably be fiala over dumba unforunaly. but i still think he would het a better return than a second even though to minesota have not much leverage, because RD are in such a bid need for many team (hence all the ''overpay'' from the last 2 years )
