I get what you are trying to do, but calling adding John Gibson a "Kawahi" type move is disrespectful to Kawhi big time.

Only on cap friendly is a 29 year old goalie who's had a few poor seasons in a row is worth more than a 100 point my top 5 winger.

John Gibson is more of a david clarkson move than a kawhi move, except that Clarkson had been good recently

And then he dumps Marner for essentially nothing.

A Kawhi type move would be like adding Roman Josi to the D. Or Matthew Tkachuk to W. Or Vasilevskiy to G.

It's not enough for Marner, but it is still a better package of assets than the one ANA is getting.

the leafs are trading a 100 point player, the ducks are trading a below league average goalie

Leafs fans are desperate for a "Kahwi Trade", but they all seem to forget who DeMar DeRozen was to that franchise. The DeRozen analog on that team is Morgan Reilly.

also not grasping what "Kahwi" was at the time of that trade, an elite pending UFA, a hired gun going all in for a chance at a championship. Any of these Kahwi trades of guys with Term coming back dont really follow that Kahwi trade footprint.

considering who are the top pending UFAs in 2023 that probably have a chance of moving. Patrick Kane is the guy that comes to mind.

Yes, there is no true Kawhi on the market, nor do the leafs have a good DeRozen equivenlent. The closest thing that you will get is something like JT Miller (who obiously isn't anywhere near what Kawhi was) for Nylander (who also is not Demar).

A middle 6 winger and a depth defenceman and a mid round first is not better than 2 top prospects, a 1st, a 3rd and Mrazek. That's

But you could likely make a package that would be enough to get him at half salary and keep Nylander. It would be a hefty price for sure but you could likely send Kerfoot over to gain cap space and the futures they get for the trade would make it worthwhile.

Yeah, but that's not an accurate assessment at all. A top six center who outscored Bunting, a young 1st pairing RD - both on team friendly contracts, 17OA, and no cap dumps is considerably better than two A- prospects that could be as good as those players someday, 28OA, a 3rd, and getting stuck with $3.8M AHL level goalie for two years.

I know, I'm just saying that the closest somewhat realistic blockbuster for being a Kawhi trade comparable. I agree something centred around Kerfoot and a large amount of picks and prospects (you'd be looking at something like Kerfoot, Neimela and a first and a second though) would be better.

The 1st and Mrazek balance each other out. Mrazek is a dump. And Nimella just isn't a "top prospect". He's solid but no where near the value TOR fans are suggesting. It's just not as much for Gibson as the dilusional leafs fans think

Fabbro isn't a top pair defenceman. I'm done here.

He's got a pile of value. He was the top defenceman at the juniors and was the top defenceman in his league in Europe. He's a top prospect. As is Knies. Fabbro is nothing special and Granlund is Kerfoot. Mrazek does not in any way cost a 1st to move when he has such a good buyout.

A guy who literally plays on the first pair is a "depth defenseman", but a 3rd rounder with less upside is a top prospect? Yes, we are certainly done here.

Sens can get more for Brown especially with retention, and if he's moved, it likely won't be for future assets anyways
