Jets Reset minus 55

Description
Trotz coached Jets team...

Caps shed Eller salary, 3rd line upgrade, adds secondary scoring, PK, and can slide to C when needed.

55 moved for several assets, cap relief allows Jets to resign Stastny for 2 year deal. Vilardi has top six upside. Faber likely a year away from joining Moose/Jets.

Comrie walks for more playing time somewhere else, Jets get Kolesar and pick for taking Brossoit contract, suspect they still believe in him as well. Kolesar adds the edge the Jets are hoping to add to the lineup.

Harkins squeezed out by Barron and others. Jets add more picks in an effort to restock for future.

Detroit passes.

LA has Kopitar, Danualt and Byfield down the middle. Pretty sure Mark Scheifele is the last Center they need.

Detroit only has interest in Nate Schmidt if available and waives.

Los Angeles has no need of a center; we have two veterans and four prospects vying for playing time. And we wouldn't be including Brock Faber in any trade for anything other than a first-line winger or first-pairing LD.

As a right shot C that puts up over a PPG some have suggested that moving him to RW would allow him to focus even more on his offence and his defence wouldn't be as critical... Maybe view Scheif as a first line winger and then have us add Logan Stanley as a Left D with upside...

My counter here would be Scheif + Stanley (or Dillon if you prefer him) for Vilardi, 22 1st, Faber + one of (Grans, Spence or Durzi your choice)

As much as I liked Brossoit in Winnipeg, he had a rough year in Vegas and will also be returning from offseason surgery.

It was rough, but remember this is the Jets we're talking about here. They'll need a backup after Comrie walks, sweetening the pot for a player/person they like he might be the guy. Plus its only one year left on that deal.

They can give Comrie a raise and still pay him less than Brossoit.

Yeah I agree, pretty simple, you move one of these dudes to wing. 55 is so cheap, and only 2 years left, compared to over paying with dollars and term someone older from the UFA crowd he makes alot of sense for many teams.

True, but why would Comrie want to stay now that he is finally free? He'll be itching to play more, they have done nothing here to prove to him that will happen.

And Brossoit did nothing this year to prove that he still has it. Plus he is getting offseason surgery so there even more questions.
