Easy no from the Jets. Add some more quality in there and try to keep it to at most 3 pieces.

You can tell the PLD offer is from a Buffalo fan podcast. It's fantastic for Buffalo and absolutely horrid for Winnipeg.

The guys at Expected Buffalo don't know what they are talking about. Elliotte Friedman on Pierre-Luc Dubois’ future: "I don't think Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to be traded or anything like that. I don't think the Winnipeg Jets are looking to trade Pierre-Luc Dubois."

For all Buffalo fans, even if PLD was available, Johnson is useless to the Jets as we have so many LD and Middlestat has badstats, not middle, heck Duby had 9 more goals than Casey had in points

Why does every Sabres AGM have them playing middleman in a Dadonov to the Preds trade? If NSH wants him, they can just deal with VGK directly. They don't need to pay BUF to retain.

I see Buffalo being willing to play middleman in a deal with Colorado getting Dadonov half retained. Colorado is losing at least two out of three of Kadri, Burakovsky, and Nichushkin. He may not want to waive to come here but if the arrangement with Colorado is known he probably would be OK with going there, especially if he gets to inflate his numbers on the one year contract and then earn a new deal.

Like the Crouse trade, kid just popped 20 goals this year, add a little grit to the left side and could mesh very nicely here.

I wouldn't do the trade, he's a good player but Tage Thompson just had a better year than Dubious ever has. I would use the assets somewhere else.

Or maybe you don't know what you're talking about. He also said they may look to deal him if they can't get a long term deal done as he is UFA eligible in 2 years

Not being actively shopped. Its the offseason content creation season, got to get those numbers up.

Yeah that's fair, but you've been basically quoting part of what Friedman said as gospel to discredit trade offers for PLD. If WPG can only sign PLD for one or two years, wouldn't you rather trade him?

I am using it to discredit comments who are saying that PLD is being shopped. There is a long way to go before he is shopped. Cheveldayoff's pattern is to not trade until late into the process or when it is needed (translation: when things are fractured) -- just before the last year of the deal or TDL and not two years before.

Fair enough. His value is much higher as a RFA than on an expiring contract though, so that's why fans want to trade for him now

I agree that Dubois is way more valuable as a trade chip the more RFA years he has and the fan interest makes perfect sense.

In my view the steps that need to happen:
1. Hire a coach
2. Make a decision on Scheifele which will probably involve the new coach
3. If Scheifele is moved this offseason, Jets will overpay Dubois
-or-
3. If Scheifele isn't moved this offseason:
3.1. If Dubois wants to sign long term, no problem and then speculation goes to Scheifele's next contract
3.2. If Dubois doesn't want sign medium- or long-term, then he'll get a 1yr deal (or arb award) and the speculation shifts to what happens in the 2023 offseason.

Good catch on the additional defenseman. I originally had Johnson and then traded him so that is where I may have missed it.

I agree Crouse is a third-liner, so I am thinking they just roll with four lines or when one of the vet wingers leaves in coming seasons, Crouse gets moved up. I think he is the perfect blend of size and scoring but won't need a ton of minutes/money.

They pretty much went off that Friedman sound as well and they through out the hypothetical and said that it may take Cozens or Krebs to get it done, which in that case I don't think Buffalo says yes. FWIW I don't think that Winnipeg would say yes to what I put together above either, I just thought I would give it a whirl to see what it would look like.
