Dickinson had some of the best defensive impacts in hockey in 2020-2021. Any analytic minded team would have liked him after that year, and if he does bounce back to it, then he could definitely end up with positive value

Why not just keep OEL? He’d be the 2nd best d-man on The roster and you didn’t even use the cap space you gained by trading him. That trade makes 0 sense

4th line would still be a good spot for him. Quality bottom six forwards who ideally slot onto the 4th line but can temporarily be elevated in the lineup are capable of fetching mid-round picks on the trade market

The Canucks got a 3rd round pick for Travis Hamonic. There are brain dead GM’s in the league so getting a third for Dickinson isn’t completely out of this world

Was the trade changed, I am looking at: 2023 7th round pick (BUF) for Dickinson and 2023 3rd round pick (MIN)!
While he may have great defensive stats so does Rasmus Asplund, at nearly $2,000,000 lower AVV and with as more pts this season as Dickinson had the last two years.
IMO Buffalo could accept the trade as currently written, but not if they have to give up assets since they have Asplund and Girgensons filling those skates.
I could see a contender giving up a decent pick for a solid defensive forward.
This past TDL the Caps gave up a third for Johan Larsson.
Let me suggest you ignore LOVE, he seldom sees a trade that he likes.
