Yeah, it's actually kind of the opposite. The Jets are giving up a top 4 guy for a bottom pairing guy. Pointless. I missed that Mayfield is a rental as well. Even more pointless for the Jets.

Over the last 3 seasons Mayfield has averaged about 19:30 minutes per night over 184 games with 46 points. In that same time frame Dillon has averaged about 19:15 minutes per night over 204 games with 53 points. Both players average the same minutes per night, and score at the same pace with Dillon having played 20 more games. You comment that 1 player is a middle pairing D-Man and the other is a 3rd pairing D-Man is factually incorrect based on their averaged stats. Either both players are middle pairing, or both players are 3rd pairing.

That Hawks trade would be great but Chicago isn't doing that.
