Isles weren't supposed to spend a 1st and a 2nd on Pageau either.

Yes they were, they desperately needed a middle 6 C. Conor Brown also doesn’t have the numbers to pull a 1st and a 2nd. Pageau had 24 goals in 60 games when he was traded and he’s also a center which holds more value.

The isles aren’t scratching Palmieri to put a worse player in Conor brown in the lineup.

I don't think NYI does this trade but there'll be other teams that'll offer a 1st and a B prospect or an A prospect and a 5th... as long as Brown is healthy he'll bring in back a very good return!

Yeah. I can't imagine him not wanting to sign an extension here. There's a reason he picked Ottawa out of the 20+ teams that all wanted him as a free agent. He chose this place and it's worked out great for both sides, an extension is a no brainer here.

Let's say we don't trade Zub at the deadline next year.

And he performs the same next year as he did this year.

    What would he sign for?

For the record, I want Zub to stay in Ottawa.

    Don't get me wrong.

The problem is that Ottawa is not a very attractive destination for free agents.

Yes they were, they desperately needed a middle 6 C. Conor Brown also doesn’t have the numbers to pull a 1st and a 2nd. Pageau had 24 goals in 60 games when he was traded and he’s also a center which holds more value.

JG Pageau 3 seasons prior trade : 0.37 PPG, 0.31 PPG, 0.67 PPG

    Connor Brown last 3 seasons : 0.61 PPG, 0.63 PPG, 0.61 PPG

Yes, Pageau 0.40 GPG in 2019-20 was impressive but Brown did something very similar last season with 0.38 GPG

Connor Brown has COMFORTABLY outproduced Palmieri the last 2 seasons. That's only for offensive production. He brings a LOT MORE than points.

The NHL is a "what have you done for me lately" league. At the time of the Pageau trade, he was on a 33 G pace. Brown was on pace for 13 goals last season lol.

Palmieri was more efficient than Brown this past season when looking at their rate numbers . Comfortably outproduced !

    21-22 season

    goals per 60 min
    Palmieri: .83 goals per 60
    Brown: 47 goals per 60

    Points per 60
    Palmieri: 1.84
    Brown: 1.82

Palmieri is better than Brown in almost every aspect of the game at even strength.

If your GM PAID for Pageau because he thought he was a great goal scorer, then he's extremely ****ing dumb. Like even worse than Dorion lol

Connor Brown showed good goal scoring in a season recently too (31 G pace) but NHL teams know that's not his bread and butter. His value is basically in all other parts of the game

Let's also remember that you said "CoNnor Brown also doesn’t have the numbers to pull a 1st and a 2nd" when comparing him to Pageau. I simply showed that he Brown has had much better numbers on a larger sample size.
