Canes won't do that, I really don't see any RHD that'll be available, no one is trading their top pair RHD and there isn't really any 2nd pair RHD that'll be available either.

The Jets just aren't built to play Trotz defensive hockey.

What's a more realistic return? Say the Jets for sure want Pesce to shore up their top pair

I agree they aren't, that's why I was trying to make moves for them to be more suited to play his style. Loved what he did with the Capitals when he was there. Still let high end talent guys play to strengths, didn't seem like he did that in NYI

There's no deal that would make Carolina move Pesce out. When they rejected a LAINE trade for him, he's untouchable. Especially with the Canes only having Pesce signed next year for their RD.

You can also forget Jarvis unless Perfetti is coming back

I'll say, Kotkaniemi will be a Carolina condition to be part of

Knew Canes fans were high on Jarvis, but with him being from Winnipeg I thought the Jets would inquire about him. But you don't think there is anything that could pull Pecse out of Carolina..? I never thought Laine was offered there. But you'd have to imagine that Laine + Roslovic for Pesce gets accepted if it was accepted for Dubios?

I was going to add him, being a centerman is more valuable too. But, he signed an awesome deal with Carolina. If he plays to his potential, they'll be paying peanuts for a top 6 centerman in a few years which is why I wonder if that is more valuable to the Canes

If Carlo Lysell and a 1st is a package which people think is fair (not me) then this is an underpayment.

I think the Jets biggest need is a stud right shot Dman. I would love to have a deal centered around Carlo.

I made a trade on a previous thread that was Carlo, Debrusk & a 1st for Schiefele & Stanley.

But another option is Pesce (I think is also very solid, but not as valuable as Carlo)

No. It was Necas + Pesce for Laine, and the Canes laughed hard. A starting point for Pesce would be Ehlers for his two way game, probably ask for Perfetti, settle for a 1st... something like that. Pesce is the best RH DFD in hockey. He's been Carolina's best defenseman this season, and they have Slavin and DeAngelo. You'd have to pay through the nose to tempt a player like that away from a team in the middle of its cup window when he's on one of the best contracts in hockey.

So you're saying that the Canes would only accept a trade for Pesce if it were for Ehlers and Perfetti..? I think that's a bit of hometown bias lol. Pecse is good, but he's nowhere near that valuable

Then it’s as simple as that. Canes reject any Sheifele trade thrown their way simply because Sheifele would fail in the Canes system. Plus, the Canes won’t be paying for Jeff Skinner 2.0.

As for Jarvis, not even Perfetti would do it. Perfetti doesn’t play a position of need for the Canes. And Pesce isn’t getting traded. The earliest you can even have the thought of him being traded is when Heimosalmi is completely settled into the Canes system. Until that time, get this ridiculous notion out of your head. Unless the Jets start tossing Connor into the mix of trade targets, you can forget about anything involving Pesce.

Plus, saying Pesce isn’t that valuable is where your bias is coming in. Pesce isn’t as valuable to other teams as he is to the Canes. Pesce is a legitimate top pairing RHD, but the only reason he is on the second pairing is because Rod won’t pair his best defensive dmen together outside of extreme situations, like on a 5 on 3 PK.

Then don't trade for one of the best defensive defenseman in the NHL that can play either side and is under contract at a hair over four for the next two years. Your choice. Go get someone else.

That's your own bias. In reality, if the Jets offered Ehlers and Perfetti for Brett Pesce... Chevy would be fired the next day lol

They wouldn't get Pesce for anything less. Just because you don't know how good Pesce is doesn't reduce his value. Pay the price or get lost lol
