IMO, the issue here is that all of the prospects involved are mid-tier or below. Absolutely needs to be quality over quantity for Anaheim to even consider.

I guess i missed the part where kawhi had been bad for many years before the trade and had a massive not good contract with tons of term on it

not even close for Gibson. You cant just throw a bunch of c level prospects and a 1st for him. Gotta have one of your top prospects like Niemela to get him

Well, if toronto is giving up picks + top prospects, i think the ducks would have to retain, which they arent going to be willing to do. I dont see Knies, Robertson, Amirov or Niemela going the other way. (Or liljegren or Sandin but they arent really prospects anymore i guess)

If gibson was putting up 920sv% every year, then yes the leafs would need to throw in much more.

he hasnt had over a 904sv% since 18/19. Personally, i think he is still a solid #1 goalie, but i think he trade value has dropped off. especially since hes at 6.4 for 5 years.

Well then it simply doesn't happen...very simple. Trading a player away for a less than ideal return makes little to no sense, especially when you're not handcuffed into doing it. There's no reason for the Ducks to move him without being overpaid on him. If the Leafs want him, they can pay for him. If not, no sweat smile

You've referenced sv% a couple of times now, and could even go further with analytics, but you're skipping over the defensive system in front of him, and the players in that system.

This place is great for stuff like this. Gibson hasnt been bettet than good for 4 years and not even good for 3 and he's stll amazingly valuable.
Muzzin has one rough half season and he's a salary dump

Since forever weve been hammered with how good and valuable thr ducks defenders are in trades, so it cant be that

Why would GIbson have value? He hasn't done anything in 3 years and his last playoff appearance was disastrous. Meanwhile he's got a big cap hit and long term remaining. His value would reflect that he's a massive gamble, not that he's a guaranteed result.

Ehhhhh! We still got a haul for Hampus and an excellent return on game 1 hero Josh Manson smile

Can't neglect the Eakins effect though...as a Ducks fan who has to watch that system, yikes...
