Yet Arizona would decline. Crouse is not a throw in.

I don’t know if it’s in great taste to trade Amirov while he’s out with a brain tumour

It absolutely helps the Leafs. Look at that blueline. Getting tougher up front as well. Crouse would produce a lot more on Toronto.

If I’m Montreal I’d do it. Engvall is much better than Poehling. Poehling is at best a fringe 4th liner. Engvall isn’t special but he’s a big body who could maybe slot in next to Suzuki and Caufield but at worst is a 3rd liner. Leafs could throw in a different prospect if you feel like it’s that far apart.

Yeah but Crouse is better than Ritchie. Everyone knew Ritchie wasn’t going to work out. And neither of them are 4th liners.

Poehling played quite well down the stretch and showed improvement under St. Louis. I think he still has room to grow and would be upset if he did that anywhere but Montreal. Engvall at best is a third liner which the Habs already have too many of to justify giving up on Poehling, trading Allen who almost fetched a decent return from edmonton this deadline, and taking on that awful Mrazek contract. Really don’t think there’s anyone in the leafs system that they’d be happy giving up and the Habs would be interested in

The Yotes aren’t planning on competing any time soon, so why would they make that trade? They could get a more favorable return by 1) trading for picks and prospects, and 2) not trading Chychrun and Crouse together. If they truly go the route of trading Chychrun AND Crouse, they will maximize their profits, and I don’t think that would be to send them to one team, especially if 1st round picks are involved.

You’re probably right that that would probably be the route they go, but should it be? I don’t think so. I think you work on the now and the future. They will still be bottom 3 next year with or without this deal. Imagine they draft Cooley this year and Bedard or Fantilli next year. After this deal in a year or two they will have:

x - Bedard - Nylander
x - Cooley - Keller

That would be insane.

I though Poehling was okay. He almost showed that he can be a full time nhler. The fact that he’s not there yet is concerning. He’s at best a 4th liner and you can disagree with me if you like, that’s what I see. I had high hopes for him, but he’ll soon be passed over by our other prospects. I think one of the main focuses this year should be finding a complimentary player for Suzuki and Caufield. Engvall could be that guy. He really upped his game last year and he could continue to do that. He’s got the hands and enough offensive IQ to play with them, he just needs to use his size more. He could have a similar upward trajectory to Marchment. I’d like to see that experiment. You’re probably right though, Toronto doesn’t have the assets to get it done.

Yes because fans of other teams covet Crouse because of his points. He is a 20 goal scoring 3rd line wing that hits hard and often, is HUGE and fast and goes to the net and PK's. I would not trade him straight up for Sandin.

As for the other part of the deal, Coyotes would not trade Chychrun 1 for 1 for Nylander either because they would be going for high end futures not an 'older", more expensive and shorter term RW.
