Description
Want to hear your thoughts on the value of both Hronek & Bertuzzi. Hronek seems to be a semi-popular trade piece on CapFriendly and I've seen a couple of Bertuzzi moves recently. Thought I'd kick the tires & get some feedback from y'all. I can put together a more sound ACGM after I get some feedback, if this is too far off base.

That's kind of what I figured. Looks like a top-6 (or future top-6) caliber center is probably the bigger need for the Wings. Obviously wanted y'alls opinion first before I jumped to anything though

If I were a wings fan I may actually consider that since Detroit could use a partner for Seider and some more depth on the left side. not sure if Edvinsson(Sorry if i misspelt his name) comes in next year lmk red wings fans,

I haven't watched Lindell play enough to really say, but I have heard good things.

Not really understanding all of the Hronek movement. He's a solid RH Dman and will fill in nicely behind Seider. That doesn't move the needle for Detroit. Hronek is easily worth a 1st round pick.

Edvinsson and/or Johansson may very well make the team. However, I could see Yzerman looking to add a guy to play the top pair with Seider. Lindell would do well there, but I don't know his value relative to Bert's.

I think people are down on him because of all the weight he beared previously and people having higher expectations than they really should have. Also, Hronek himself was likely one of the "young core" guys who was happy to see Blashill go. He may rebound a bit with different coaching.

I think Yzerman only moves Bertuzzi for a 2C coming back, Some one like Bo Horvat as long as Bertuzzi extends of course.

Include Klingbergs rights in the deal for Hronek and you have yourself a deal.

Supposedly Hronek wasn't happy being demoted after Seider came in, Yet he had the 2nd most minutes after Seider and he put up his best season scoring wise with 38 points. So some are speculating that he might want out. But that could change with a new coach coming in.

That's a pretty interesting roster and nice trade scenarios. But that NMC to Lindell could jeopardize the whole thing.

I like the fact that one of your objective is to move Miro on his left side and that you left space on the roster for youth.

If we trade Gurianov, Namestnikok and Wedgewood are the only two UFA that I want back.

I really hope that Nill (or the new GM) will resist to the temptation of signing Raffl back. This team needs to get younger and needs players on ELC.

Johnston as well as Bourque and Stankoven are untouchables IMO. How about a 1st and a B prospect?

I just don't think Lindell makes sense for the Wings for a couple of reasons. The idea behind potentially moving Bert, largely, is that his prime years don't line up with the "window" when the Wings will be ready to contend. Lindell is a year older than Bert, so it would defeat the purpose of building with that time frame in mind. They've also invested a ton of recent draft capital on LHD which is now close to paying dividends - Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, McIsaac, Sebrango, Buium, and Viro (Walman might be interesting as well). If they do move Bert I'd imagine they'd want a solid center or RHD prospect and a premium draft pick. If they can't get that kind of return I'd guess they'll just work hard on extending him over the summer.

To get Bertuzzi one of those three would have to be part of the return, otherwise it just doesn't make sense for Detroit. Totally get it if Dallas wouldn't want to go down that road.

After the wheels fell off the second half of the year, defensively, I'm not sure Yzerman shares that opinion. He usually keeps his feelings/thoughts so close to the vest that it's not worth trying to figure out what he's got planned, but when he was having his presser after letting Blashill go it was obvious he was seething over how the team performed defensively over those last 40-50 games. Perhaps a coaching change and a better partner will lift his play, but I'd guess he could be moved if the right offer comes along. I wouldn't be surprised if Seider is the only D from last year's roster that's a regular after the TDL next season.

might be slipping Bert off the table if that is the case. More value in the prospects than in the picks since you know what your getting up front.

He is ok defensively and has looked like the best wings defenseman for a couple years until Sieder came in... I think there are maybe 3-4 untouchables for Yerman and then everyone else he is matching value. I dont think Hronek is untouchable, but i doubt Yzerman is shopping him. But I think Yzerman would hear offers

He's definitely not untouchable, but he's a really steady second pair guy with offensive upside. I doubt the return we would get for him is worth it, although Yzerman is quite the magician.

Defense is a team game, not a defensemen game. I can assure you Yzerman understands that.

Hronek isn't being moved unless we get a replacement player back for the simple reason that Detroit doesn't have anyone to replace him with right now. Anything else would just be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Bertuzzi is a point per game player that plays both wings equally well as well as playing both PP and PK. He's invaluable to the team and won't be moved without either an equally good player coming back (see the Mantha trade for comparison) or a massive overpayment in futures is offered.

Of course it is, and I didn't intend to insinuate that it isn't. It would be fantastic if Hronek is a good second pair RHD moving forward, however, on the whole, last year he struggled. A coaching change, and an upgrade in partner could do the trick...hopefully it does. That would be one less hole for the Wings to fill.

Hronek will never excel in the defensive part of the game but if you check his stats (like takeaways/60 and others) you'll find that he actually has improved every year albeit very slowly. I agree with you that he would greatly benefit from being paired with a partner that is carefully selected to cover for those areas of the game where Filip struggles the most.
