Stranges isn't ready for the NHL & Oettinger will see more money. Bishop trade doesn't make sense for Dallas either. He's on LTIR until he retires, so he doesn't hit the Stars cap hit at all.

Otter won't see more money on a 2 year bridge if an offer sheet doesn't come flying in. He had an amazing 7 game series, no doubt, but young goaltenders at 23 rarely get more than 3 mil. If Stars go 8 years, sure, 5 mil seems likely. But not on a 2 year bridge.

Stranges may not be ready, and that's ok. Just slotting in a prospect who can make the jump. Not necessarily Stranges.

He's put up identical (if not, slightly better) numbers to Vasilevskiy during his first couple of seasons (the 2 years before his bridge deal). Vasilevskiy was seeing $3.5M per year. With the cap growth between then and now, Oettinger is looking at a $4M+ contract for a bridge deal.
