Leafs easily say no. Nylander is miles better than Beauviller, and while Mayfield is nice, not enough to close the cap, especially since Holl is going the other way.

if you're a Leafs fan, you might be the first I've seen that isn't loading Holl into a trebuchet to get him as far away from the Scotiabank Arena as possible

He'll be traded for a draft pick. He holds value. Most rational people wanted Liljegren in, instead of Holl. Keefe made the other choice, but that's no Holl's fault, but we know how fans can be. It was reported around the time of the Dermott trade that other teams valued Holl more than Dermott, and Derms got a 3rd. I would expect the same for Holl, factoring in that prices are usual inflated around the deadline.

It's also possible the Leafs keep Holl, though, I only anticipate that if we aren't able to re-sign Lyubushkin.

I guess the overall point is, if we can run Brodie, Liljegren, Lyubushkin next season, which is likely ideal for us, with the talent of Brodie and Liljegren, and the physicality of Lyubushkin, we don't really need to add a Scott Mayfield on RD.

I like Mayfield, and wanted us to try and get him at the deadline, but once the Lyubushkin trade happened, it took away the RD need.

you think Bura gets more than $6.5M AAV? I think he had a fine season, but I think an AAV in the $6-7M range seems to be the consensus out there on what his next deal is.

agreed that samsonov probably gets a little more on that deal though. and not sure what the package for Nylander winds up being but I think a 24 year old LW and a solid RD2 on a cheap deal is fair value - 2 legitimate roster players that come in at a total cap of $5.6M. Toronto replaces Nylander with a player who I wouldn't be shocked to evolve into a 25-goal guy in their system, fills another depth chart hole with Mayfield (no need to pay Lyub $2M+ to play RD2 now), and saves about $1.3M in cap space. I'm sure Leafs fans might want more out of it, but I honestly feel like it's one of the better packages they could be able to get for Nylander that helps them next year instead of getting picks/prospects that might not be ready yet.

Dobson gets way more, Toronto won't take that and we can do better than the Washington trade. I like the thinking in getting a winger though.

Its a bridge deal for a reason, he’s not getting 6M for a bridge deal. Yeah we need wingers badly, and not middle 6 wingers which every winger we have is

Fortunately, or unfortunately I guess it depends on how you look at it, Dobson is one of those players that's not getting a true bridge deal. Right now he's worth at least $5 mil per and at worst he maintains where he is right now. He'll like get better, fast, My guess is $6 mil x 6 years. And that's him being loyal. I can see a team like Seattle with a lot of excess draft picks Offer Sheeting him at $8 mil x 7 years. They can afford the money/picks and makes a huge splash in the immediate. Again, this is just my opinion though.

I have it between 3x4 on a bridge and then an 8x7 extension follows it. Or I have the Isles doing 8x6 now, but for them to compete next year and with how every RFA under Lou here has been handled, a cheap(er) bridge deal is most likely

tbh i dont see bura getting less than 7 mil. nylander is an elite talent that gets wildly overshadowed by matthews, marner and tavares. nylander could get 40-45 goals per season in his prime where he is the play driving forward. being that toronto is still trying to win now, they would need at least a first, a very good top 6 winger, and a top 4 d. beau is good but 35-40 points per season may not cut it (prob looking in the 50+ point range with defensive upside), mayfield is a solid top 4 d, but then youre still missing the first. ik it sounds like a lot, but nylander is an elite top line winger and hes only 26.
