Description

This team is two years away with a cap increase of 4 million. This is only meant to envision the impact of playing 3-4 guys on rookie deals. It's highly unlikely all 3 of Stankoven, Wyatt and Bourque can play top six, let alone in the NHL but plug and play with a 5 million ish FA. The big question is how quickly does Suter crater.

If Otter signs an 8 year deal, he’s definitely signing for more than that. I think he’s probably signing a deal somewhere between Demko or Shesterkin‘s deal (5yrs/$5-6M AAV). And Roope is not signing for $6.5M AAV. He’s minimum gonna be around $8M.

Otter is a weird K negotiation because the dude has only played 77 total hockey games. Don't get me wrong, his playoff performance was historic, but I don't think he's necessarily got the amount of games under his belt needed to truly command a high AAV. He's coming off his entry level. It's a tough spot for Nill to be in. I'd probably try and get a bridge deal done that preserves his UFA for the next extension.
