This is... certainly a post.

Ek is the only center we have worthy of a "top 6 center" title. He is on a bargain of a contract, played a huge role on one of the best defensive lines in the NHL, and he was one of the few players that showed up in the postseason aside from Kaprizov. I can't see any way he's moved unless it's a stupid overpayment, this is not. I don't see a need for Chychrun when we have Brodin already, Middleton was a good fit on the top pairing, and Lambos is developing in our system.

Fiala is a 25 year old PPG winger that can take over games, and we're trading him for a middle 6 winger and a 3 round pick? Boston would have to add significantly to make this work.

Hartman is the way better value. Face it, wild can't afford OK value players like JEE

It's funny how MN's "top pair" plays 3rd pair minutes and actively avoids being put against other teams' top lines.

Middleton is fine for a 4/5 d-man, and should be paid ($2m-$3m/yr) as such this offseason. He and Spurgeon make an okay 2nd pair. He and Addison would make a decent/good 3rd pair.

Chychrun would be the 2nd best d-man on the team. He might be the best value for his contract d-man in MN too.

He's very good, but we're likely losing an 85 point player this offseason. I know you despise Spurgeon but I think help up front (especially down the middle) is a far bigger need than adding another defenseman.

JEE has a good contract entering his prime yrs. They could certainly afford him but you did spend 8M on Husso and Namestinkov. They aren’t bad contracts but the focus could be on keeping JEE 5.25. If you don’t do the chychrun trade (arz wouldn’t take that anyways). JEE at 5.25, Then you could focus on trading just Dumba and save his 6M and have some money to fill needs around the roster as it is not that likely Fiala stays.

Middleton toped 20 mins a total of 3 times in his 27 (including Playoffs) games for MN, His ToI/gp in the Playoffs was less that 17 mins.

Spuregon is being paid top pair money ($7.6m/yr). He was the #6D 5v5 ToI (heavy o-zone starts), #1D PP ToI, 2nd PK unit ToI (with the highest GA/60 on the team). Addison is on an ELC and can fill the same #6D 5v5 and #1D PP role for a lot cheaper. Every other d-man on the team this can take his PK ToI and be as good or better.

The semantics of MN's pairing numbers just really annoys me. The "top pair" that plays 3rd pair minutes and doesn't face the other teams' best players.

Middleton/Spurgeon pairing should have been on the ice a lot more in the Playoffs. They are both better players than what was on the Merrill (-7) pairing.

IMO Chychrun is a huge upgrade on D, one of few players fast as MacKinnon. Husso solidifies G. F takes a downgrade for sure but leaves room for youngsters to grow. They can use the 1st for a rental if needed

🤣 I absolutely take 19th OVA in a weak draft and a stud RHD prospect over Jake Debrusk and a low 3rd 1,000,000/100.

That's MORE than what you offered.

What a moronic thing to say.

and this draft isn't necessarily weak either, just deep of solid quality, no standouts. Looking similar to 2017. That draft was producing NHL regulars/stars until about pick 50, but none of them are generational guys. Not every draft has a McDavid/Matthews as people always seem to want now. There's a reason people always rave about 2015, will probably never see another draft that deep

I'm sure Kaprizov is happy about what these assets will add to the team during 2/5 of his deal.

I equate it to 2020 personally. But would otherwise agree.
