No from Winnipeg. The Jets aren't trading an RD they need for yet another LD.

Haaaaaard pass by the Capitals. They cannot give that up for 1 year of Miller who then cost way too much to resign. For that offer they could get some younger, better and signed for longer.

Could change the prospect. Or just make it 2nd and 3rd round pick

It's extremely unlikely the Jets move DeMelo unless the cap forces their hand and then it would probably be for the best picks they can get.

Thought the same thing but realistically they won’t find anyone nearly as good as Miller that will help them win in the current window. MCM is good but he’s not Zegras / Hughes. He’s maybe a really solid 2c at some point? Capitals have 2-3 years to win a cup. After that who cares. Miller helps them win w Ovechkin. Miller had 98p last year? Tell me who is younger and available? Backstrom when healthy is a 70-80 point guy. I’ll wait 😊

Also clearly said he extends w the capitals

We can just aim at Walker if that’s the case.

For that package just call every team and start asking, you'll find someone younger. Hell you could get Ehlers for less than that and I would rather have him than Miller. Jesper Bratt was mentioned as possible being available. There's probably a lot of good young names you could get for that package.

None of those guys are centers and would likely cost the same amount AND Miller is better imo.

We don't need a center. McMIchael is 2C ready. You have Lapierre coming as well. And Ehlers and Bratt are better than Miller and are younger so they'll stay better longer and at a cheaper price.

If Backstrom is LTIR or out for a long time this coming season, the Caps will definitely need a center.

Not if they pick up Gaudreau or Forsberg. They can run their own line. McMichael is 2C ready anyway.

I would love for McM to be ready for 2C and hope you are right but I highly doubt it.

If McM is your 2c and Lappy is your 3c we are a lottery team and the only benefit to that is we could win Bedard who is actually an elite center.

McM is barely 3c ready. He would need Oshie to babysit him with sheary

Lapierre isn't NHL ready, he'll need a year in the AHL but McMichael is definitely 2C ready. His possession impacts when he was center this season was better than any center we had this year. He'll be a very good 2C and if you have Forsberg and Mantha on his wings he'll do fine.

He averaged 10 minutes a night….

43.14 cf% 34.21ff% xgf% 44.42. In the playoffs.

Protas vs McM

53.75 cf%. 54.26 ff%. 52.72xgf% .27ppg

52.21cf%. 52.86ff%. 55.44 xgf%. .27ppg

Both are average players that should be 3c for at least 2 years before moving up any higher unless they show something impressive. Protas imo has the size and should be in the NHL.

Miller.
52.36cf% 51.92 ff%. 51.03xgf%. Playing top line minutes. 1.24 ppg

One of these guys can carry a line by himself. The others are young players that aren’t ready to handle those responsibilities

Lafreniere.
47.67cf%. 46.92ff% 48.58xgf%. .40ppg.

He’s considered a big time bust and even he’s a noticeable upgrade

Nah he's 2C ready. Look at his offensive and defensive impacts on Evolving Wild, especially when he was playing center. He's so good. Doesn't need time as 3C, especially for 2 more years. If we can play as 3C sure, I'm fine, but not at the cost of severely overpaying for Miller. I'd rather sign Trochek and keep all those assets than blow them for 1 year of Miller than crazy overpaying for his down years.

Trochek Imo isn’t a good 2c and you need to replace a 70-80 point Backstrom. McM isn’t a 2c on a cup contending squad. Maybe aim for schmaltz or Dvorak who can slide down after McM gets more time at center. Hard to measure meaningful impact averaging 10m/gp

Meh just give it to McMichael and put Forsberg on his wing. Forsberg can drive his own line. Forsberg-McM-Mantha would be amazing.

Forsberg will demand 9.5m? Basically replacing Backstrom with him? Feels like you can get more upgrades w that cap space.

He'll probably be around $9M. Move Eller and Hags and have more money to grab someone else as well. Like replace Mikheyev with Nichushkin.

Ovi-Kuz-Nich
Forsberg-McM-Mantha
Snively-?-Wilson
Sheary-Dowd-Hath

Can try Protas at 3C. Maybe see if Malkin will sign for 1 year and he can be the 2C. Then Lap will be ready so you can go Kuz-McM-Lap down the middle.

Go from a really strong center depth 2 2 players w >100gp playing huge roles on a cup contender. Not a fan tbh
