We have Suzuki, Dvorak, probably Wright, Evans, and poehling
We don't need another older ish center, especially at this stage
Especially since Pageau is signed long term

beau would be nice, but the leafs need to add forwards or upgrade, not shuffle deck chairs or downgrade, mayfield would be ok but not a need and there would be less than zero interest for Johnston

Not totally against Pageau to Montreal, but we don't need another center assuming we draft one 1st overall (wright, maybe cooley)

I thought Lou said at one point that he wants to run with both goalies again or am I mistaken?

At any rate, I figure Varlamov's NTC makes the deal to the Sabres a long shot at best.

IMO dvorak is gone. like no chance he is there. Poehling I think is a future winger. Evans isnt anything more than a bottom 6 guy. Pageau is a 2nd line center that can play 3C or wing and a center core of Suzuki-Wright/Pageau-Wright/Pageau is a very good 1-2-3 punch. Plus he can play PK realllly well and win crucial faceoffs.

Respectfully I think that there is room for him and he would be a fit

Why do you see Dvorak gone
I also like Dvorak better now, and in the long run, because he's cheaper than Pageau, and is arguably superior in every aspect to Pageau, and still has room to grow.
No reason to move dvo for Pageau
Dvo is also a great pker, and he had one of the best faceoff % in the league

And Buffalo would not make that deal when there are at least four better goaltenders in the UFA market they could acquire for big dollars they need to spend to hit the cap floor anyways. Sabres must sigh a big dollar goalie or RHD just to hit the floor. Why not go after Campbell, Husso or others of that grade to work in front of their young core.

I think they'll make a big-ish trade for a G. The UFA goalies are kinda iffy tbh. Campbell looked solid in the post season, but his season numbers on the whole were about league avg. Husso had a strong year...but thats just it, the one year so you really dk there either. I think they'll either make a splash for one goalie and UPL as backup or make two smaller scale trades and start UPL in Roch cause playing time and why not.

                      1. Palmieri vetoes the trade to Ottawa.

                      2. Ottawa accepts the trade for Bailey.

Respectfully, Montreal's not going to acquire Pageau unless they send a vet with comparable money and term the other way. And Pageau doesn't make sense for them right now anyways.

                      Habs reject
We have Suzuki, Dvorak, probably Wright, Evans, and poehling
We don't need another older ish center, especially at this stage
Especially since Pageau is signed long term
Check which team you're trading to next time, please!

It seems like a natural fit considering Pageau already owns that franchise

IMO dvorak is gone. like no chance he is there. Poehling I think is a future winger. Evans isnt anything more than a bottom 6 guy. Pageau is a 2nd line center that can play 3C or wing and a center core of Suzuki-Wright/Pageau-Wright/Pageau is a very good 1-2-3 punch. Plus he can play PK realllly well and win crucial faceoffs.

Respectfully I think that there is room for him and he would be a fit

                      I’d just keep Dvorak tbh

How about Pageau and Mayfield for Gallagher Poelhing and a 2022 2nd rounder?

A strong “maybe” from the Sabres
That deal could make sense for us

A second for a rental seems a bit rich, but I don't hate it. I think goalies prices are broken down into 3 tiers- the whatever Gibson would cost (which I would never pay), the "gee, I think we can get a second for our better than average goalie", and the "our goalies that just passed through waivers and aren't worth anything, but we think we can get a third for him".

Yeah, that’s why i said “maybe”
A bit pricy, but also a seemingly good fit for what we’d be looking for- especially if he’d extend a year or 2

I’d imagine we’d look at a few UFAs as well
