IK a blues defenseman who would fit in with the Isles lmao. I’d rather try and sign Leddy instead of trading for Reilly. IK the analytics are terrible, but it seems like Leddy is helping the blues a lot so far.

He turned out defense around. Look at the wild games he wasn’t playing we lost
The one he was we won. Idk if it’s cause Parakyo feels steady with him or what but he always plays better

That’s fair mostly I try and get value right and give food for though trades ig
I though Nelson would be a great replacement and a out of the box idea
What is JGP value atm

I genuinely don’t know. Some Canucks fan on this website tried to say he’s a negative asset, but that’s just not true. I think the real issue is getting fair value for JGP. On paper Pageau shouldn’t be in your top six, but you also can’t roll out Erik Haula or Ryan Hartman and expect to advance to the second round.

I liked him in Detroit. I think Leddy is one of those guys where you don’t appreciate him until he’s gone. For whatever reason the analytics guys hate him. Far be it for me to question the analytics gods, but it seems like there is a disconnect between Nick Leddy’s advanced statistics and winning Lmao.

He made 5 mil for a reason lmao and blues gave up a decent price to get him
Idk why the Isles ever traded him anyways then got chara to fill his spot

They thought Seattle would take him in the Expansion draft, but it was a really bad trade. Also Lou seems to prioritize spending a lot of money at wing. Which is arguably the least important position in hockey.

Top 4 dman, 2nd line RW and a mid first is pretty good
Definitely not a bag of crap at least

A solid #4 dman (top 4 is misleading) a 3rd line winger and a 1st ~20 lets say is nowhere close to a 2 way 2C who just put up 37 goals on one of the most offensively challenged teams.

Bad trade????? No problem, you trade raty for a 5.5 million nick leddy. That is preposterous to say that was a bad trade by lou, but hey haters gonna hate

Knowing a thing or two about hockey doesn’t make me a hater. Isles scouts made the best of a bad decision. Doesn’t mean they got fair return in terms of draft compensation, just means isles scouts did a good job.

Lmao leddy has been one of the worst defensemen in the keague the last few years both according to analytics and the eye test. In a year when we needed his cap hit getting pick 52 for him at 5.5 when we were about to lose him in the X-draft is a great trade

Well first off I’m not sure why the Isles had to take back Panik in the Leddy deal. Secondly I genuinely don’t know how much stock to put in Nick Leddy’s analytics when it seems like he has helped the Blues. Lastly I think Detroit’s defense looked way better with Leddy than without Leddy. I’m not pretending to have all the answers, but I just think the isles got lucky Raty fell to 52. Like I don’t know if you would defend the deal if the isles picked a different player at 52.

Yeah no kidding the isles looked better with leddy than without, bc they replaced him with chara. That had nothing to do with leddy but just how bad chara was this year. They took back panik bc yzerman needed to have sonething to say when asked about trading for a dman getting 5.5 so he sent back 250k in dead cap. (I also thought panik was gonna play this year and at 1.375 id like to see him next year).
As for the player picked i loved the trade when it happened (pre-draft) and i still do from a pick perspective, but im sure not upset we got raty.

I didn’t view Leddy as a negative asset so I don’t see why they had to take Panik.

Leddy wasnt a negative asset they got a 2nd rounder for him. Nitpicking about paniks 250k in dead cap just tells me that youre desperate for the trade to have been bad regardless of whether it was or wasnt. But tgats life in 2022 haters gonna hate.

And I’m happy with Raty. Just wish Lou hadn’t spent so much on wings like Lee and Eberle so we could’ve kept Devon Toews.

I mean they had to be part of it right? Lou spent 5.5 on Leo and Hickey in 2018. He spent 12.5 on Lee and Eberle in 2019 and another 6 on Brock Nelson. In my opinion the only good signing was Brock Nelson.

So leo and hickey were really bad signings and dont forget jan kovar and val filpulla. But the issue wasnt signing our top 6 players (especially after tavares left) eberle was a good deal, i know lee has struggled but he was 1 season removed from a 40 goal campaign and he was the C (and after the tavares disaster they really couldnt let him go they had no choice). Nelson was like you said a good signing. The issue was 11m in bad cap between leo hickey and ladd. And dont forget when toews got traded boychuk was still on the books for 6m for another 2 years.
Did they overpay a little for top 6 guys? Yeah maybe a little. But the thing that crippled them was giving big money to
bottom 6/ bottom pair/ healthy scratches.

I would argue that Lee shouldn’t have been given the C without an extension. My real issue with Lee is the years he has left and the full NTC he has for two more years.
