I think tomasino tops out where nylander is today. I think he can get there but that’s not a guarantee (though if it was guaranteed Nashville wouldnt trade him).

Toronto will want another significant piece like Svechkov or L’Heureux.

I agree TOR would probably want another piece or an upgrade to the 2nd, but I think if another 1st or equivalent prospect was added, NSH should walk away. If this were the price on Nylander, I think there's value here for the Preds.

What do you think would need to be done to retain Nylander? What do you think his next contract could look like? It looks to me like NSH would need to move out a bigger contract to fit in an extension, and I'm not sure I see Johansen or Duchene moving unless it's this summer-- so Granlund? And do you think he would even want to re-sign? I get big city vibes from him, not sure if he'd want to stay in Nashville.

I think it would be premature to speculate on Nylander's next contract, or if the city is a good fit for him. To me it makes more sense to see how his first season in NSH goes, before throwing around numbers. He might like it in NSH. It may not be as big a city as TOR, but there's more nightlife if that's his vibe. Going from the most highly taxed market in the NHL to the lowest would be a benefit to him as well.

If Duchene and/or Johansen can repeat the seasons they just had I don't think they'd be considered untradeable anymore, but yeah Granlund is probably the most likely trade candidate after next season. His contract isn't onerous, he can provide value on the ice for a lot of teams, and hopefully Glass would be ready for a spot higher in the lineup by then. Ekholm could potentially get moved then too, if someone like Davies or Farrance breaks through.

I just went with CAR because they have a lot of UFA forwards this summer. Kunin might find more success under a coach with a different style than Hynes.

They also have a LOT of very good forward prospects. Drury, Suzuki, Gunler, Ponomarev and Rees can all step up. Not to mention, they're allowed to extend their current UFA's! And at the expense of one of the best defensemen in the KHL and someone who made the Russian Oympic squad aged just 19? No thank you.

If I was moving Nylander to Nashville I would first want Fabbro to be the first piece coming back.

Fair, but NSH doesn't have the depth to consider moving Fabbro or Carrier.
