I Personally wouldnt be willing to eat 50% of burns salary, he was sneaky 12th in overall defensemen scoring this year and is a freak of nature health wise. I really dont think he will regress too much.

With that being said though if we off loaded labanc with it I would consider it I guess, but I think labanc would still be a 45-50 point player under a coach thats not boughner

Why you got rid of Holl and Nylander....that's addition by subtraction as far as making past the 1st round or did you not see the playoffs.

yeah, the leafs need to get rid of Nylander because all he did was lead the team in playoff scoring over the past two years. You clearly didnt see a single game the leafs played in the playoffs.

If they move one of the big 4 its going to be Tavares. SJ was the second Choice for him. maybe you could do Burns and Couture 16M in cap and a 3rd (who i think would both waive for Toronto) for Tavares, Holl, Mrazek (for a buyout) and kerfoot. 16M in to Toronto, 20M out to the sharks

In a nutshell, I think TOR'd definitely prefer moving JT over Nylander (cap-hit matters too, not just the overall player), but Tavares has the NMC and I don't think he waives. And I don't see SJ being interested to get him since they already have a good ~7-8mil player getting well above 10+mil, so they couldn't do it. On a side note, even if it were to happen, the deal you proposed would have to be slightly amended since a player that signed a deal with a team and then gets traded to a 2nd team can't be bought out by the 2nd team.

I dont understand. Mrazek traded to SJ then bought out. Same as what they did to marleau and Carolina

You're totally right -- my bad. I remember hearing that it doesn't work for some contracts though -- there's some kind of caveat in there if I'm not mistaken -- but it's definitely not the norm.

I dont think you can trade a guy to another team. Have them buy him out then the first team resigns him back for a year.
