I remember when fans, Leafs fans especially said that he will get a 5th at most.

Oh how the times have changed.

Also the trade worked out really good for both sides as Joseph was really good in Ottawa.

I think that he is probably looking at the Barcaly Goodrow contract that the Rangers gave him.

He also might get around 3.5+ million range.

You don't think he would take a hometown discount with the Leafs?

    I will say this ...

I don't see Nick Paul coming back to Ottawa.

Simply because players don't often re-sign with the team that traded them away.

Timothy Liljegren's (2017 R1 #17) bridge deal should cost around what 2014 1st round #17 pick, Travis Sanheim's, 2019 bridge deal which was 2 years at 3.25M. And you're going to get him to sign for 875k---get real.

Offer sheets coming for all your RFA's with no compensation due and they get 500k raises.

Yeah, he is not coming back to Ottawa. That bridge has burned unfortunatley.

But I don't see him taking a hometown discount with the Leafs considering he was in Ottawa and that is close enough and he wasn't taking a discount to stay with all of his friends, Conor Brown especially.

I see him barganing for the Goodrow contract and someone will give it to him if he wins the cup with the Lighning this year.

    1. That's his qualifying offer.

    2. Your argument that he should get the same contract as Sanheim only because they were both drafted 17th overall is laughable.

The reasoning is odd, but they’re not wrong. Teams will OS Liljegren knowing torontos cap situation.

it's not the drafted the same it's similar numbers (5 goals in 61 games vs 9 goals in 82 games and 23 points in 61 games vs 35 points in 82 games)....that is why the word AROUND appears...and 875k is nowhere near AROUND 3.25M AAV

if you think otherwise go back and look at other bridge deals for 1st round picks---whether they became top 4 or bottom pair---then look at the RFA compensation chart and see what a joke 875k on a bridge deal is.

The reasoning is that Liljegren is worth at least a 3rd round offer sheet minimal on Toronto's team and should be CLOSER (not exactly) at Sanheim's rate.

    1. Teams can be 10% over the cap up until the first regular season game in the NHL next year.

    2. If there is an offer-sheet, the Leafs will respond.

It would turn into a war like the one between Montreal and Carolina over Aho and Kotkaniemi.

    Nobody would win.

Sanheim played a full 82 game season for the Flyers that year.

Liljegren only played three-quarters of the season, played 16 and a half minutes a night, was occasionally a healthy scratch and was behind Brodie/Holl/Lyubushkin on the depth chart.

He also did very little for the Leafs in the playoffs.

The QO is appropriate in his case.

No, it's not. He'd be offer sheeted for no compensation out of town.

Up to $1,356,540 no compensation due and he just got about a 500k raise from that nonsense.

Leafs are in no position to get into an OS war lol. I think a team could easily OS Liljegren at the 3rd pick range.

Plus the Leafs need The Leafs have to make room for Bunting's next contract in the summer of 2023 (and the NHLPA owes owners so much the cap won't move above 1M more)--they can't be adding any money.

If Nick Paul is willing to sign that contract he'll be wearing blue and white okay but it'll be $1,350 mi south of Toronto. Tampa Bay won't let him get out the door if he's willing to take that price especially with their tax breaks compared to Toronto.
