Description
The whole goal of these trades and signings is to improve our depth. I think our entire team showed up in this year's series against tampa but ultimately our depth pieces weren't good enough to get it done. Championship teams have depth players like Nick Paul, Yanni Gourde, and Blake Coleman. Soft, inconsistent players like Engvall and Kase aren't going to help you win championships.

Minnesota declines. Marcus foligno straight up isn't getting traded. Grief line isn't getting broken up either. Fiala straight up for nylander. Guerin isn't trading foligno.

1- please stop with the Mrazek to Buffalo trades Leafs fans,
we don’t want him & no one else likely will either. You’d likely have to pay someone to take him off your hands

2- Tuch is gonna get named our Captain, he’s basically untouchable. And if he wasn’t, the mediocre pieces you’re trying to give up for him are laughable anyways
Buffalo would literally not be interested in 1 of those pieces,
not for Tuch

You guys aren’t gonna be able to just dump all the stuff u don’t want & replace it with shiny new toys
Not that easily anyways

Uh, Buffalo declines both trades without a second thought. I assume it's gonna cost something to move mrazek, and tuch isn't on the table, but if he was, it would be for something that you don't wanna give up.

You called Engvall soft and inconsistent but signed him for two years at 1.5 mil? I'd try to get a third round pick for him. IMO lillegren and sandin are one in the same and get the same deals. No interest in Holtby.

Buffalo doesnt want Torontos garbage and theyre 100% not giving up assets for them. That Tuch trade is embarrassing. The Sabres arent blessed to pick up your trash nor are they here to feed you talent

#1) You sure that the RFA offer sheet no compensation amount will be below 1.5M? It was $1,356,540 and the cap went up (so it should as well).

I am pretty sure Rasmus Sandin and Pierre Engvall, are worth a 3rd round pick each so therefore the offer sheet 3rd round compensation of $1,356,540 – $2,055,364 (or whatever it is this summer) would be in play. Therefore you need to adjust those signing numbers.

2) Timothy Liljegren's bridge deal (2017 R1 #17 and 5 goals 18 assists in 61 games) seems much lower than the 3.25M AAV bridge deal Travis Sanheim (2014 R1 #17) got in 2019 after a 9 goal 26 assist season plus Sanheim's deal was only for 2 years. The Leafs would be buying a year of free agency with Liljegren (because of his two years as an ELC slide) which costs more on a contract.

3) Mrazek has a 10 team NTC--wanna bet he lists the 10 teams with cap room and goalie needs on that list?

4) Muzzin has a full NTC until July 2023. He won't waive it--especially to go to Buffalo.

That's point 2....point 1 is enough to stop the trade.

Theres more of a chance Muzzin would waive for Buffalo, than Buffalo even talking about him

both are equally doubtful...Muzzin's not waiving his clause for anyone and Buffalo doesn't want an expensive veteran on the decline for a rebuilding team.

If they were rebuilding an expensive Vet would make sense, as Muzzin's decline skill would also help them get a lotto pick. Thats not Buffalos situation though. Theyre loaded with young talent at d that have already surpassed Muzzin and theyre only looking for moves that make them better not worse.
