Description
Now this could be awful, and Trevor Moore 2.0...... but toronto will probably be shopping for a dman. LA has lots of them. Robertson has lots of potential, also an LA kid. What sort of package gets which dman out of LA?

That's not what this post is about. I'm just seeing how kings fans feel. You can never have enough good defenders. Also their right side is still rather weak, kings have lots of options for that area.

Roy and Walker would be available from LA.

Id rather not trade Robertson for either one of them though.

So the post is about what then? The leafs trading a guy who plays their weakest area for a guy who plays a position they dont need filled?

Walker, Spence and Grans would be available; Matt Roy would not be (at least for Robertson).

Leafs need cap space so they can sign goalie. Leafs personnel is fine. But I think there is a fit for LA to acquire Nylander. Kings have cap, and 7m Nylander can add some juice to the LA offence.
It's just me....but I really don't care if the Kings trade any players to the Leafs, but just a pick so the Leafs could utilize their cap in another ways

The Kings have 8 quality RHD in the organization. Here they are in order from least likely to most likely to be traded.

Drew Doughty is not available.

Brock Faber is not available.

Brandt Clarke is not available.

Matt Roy will not be available until Brock Faber makes the jump to the NHL and gets some experience. That's probably at least two full seasons from now.

Sean Durzi could be available, but not for Robertson. They'd want to package Durzi up with other assets for a significant return (established top line winger or 1LD).

Jordan Spence is available. That would probably be a 1-for-1 swap with Robertson.

Helge Grans is available. Kings would probably need to add a little here.

Sean Walker is available and could probably be had for a 2nd round pick or prospect equivalent. For Robertson, the Kings would probably add a little bit to to get a deal done.

Sorry a position they don't need filled? Say whatever you want but it's very likely muzzin will miss lots of time again next season as he continues to age. That will force brodie to his left side. Then you have holl (good bottom pair guy), Liljegren (dominate 3rd pair, not sure the full potential) and who else? Mac hollowell? Cmon get real bud. Reilly desperately needs a d partner

Who exactly replaces what Nylander brings to toronto in that situation? Idk I don't see him being delt. Not even many good goalies in free agency to pay. I'd look at Dustin wolf in Calgary. Could be very good in a few years. Think Campbell gets signed 3/4 years which will hopefully be a stop gap until they get another goalie.

They have rielly, brodie, sandin and liljegren in the top 4 if muzzin is out.

Fact is no one can replace Nylander and his offensive output, but the Leafs need cap space to fill other holes. And certainly the Leafs can't depend on Mrzarek in net, wingers Anderson, Clifford or next year Holberg or the sixth and sixth Dmen Kral and Dalmstrom. That's the issue, Leaf fans are so enamoured with their top 4, that they fail to see other holes that are going to have to replaced to remain competitive next season/

Only way I see Nylander being dealt is for a younger player in the same position. Same as the Granlund for Fiala deal. (Trading current wins for future wins. Like a Holtz out of NJ (just an example not a proposal). Agreed they don't have great depth. They are in line to pick up Philip Myers for cheap. Hinostroza is a player I really like. Do they bring back Kase? Lots of potential for change.

If it isnt, then anything LA trades them doesnt get them further. Sandin and liljegren were big contributiors to one of the best teams in the leauge. LA wouldn't even have made the playoffs in the east

They were 3rd pair d for the majority of the season. Both are good players with potential, you're just better off to get a legit top 4 guy. I respect you opinion, let's just agree to disagree
