Fiala is on the market because MN doesn't have the cap space to re-sign him. Make this trade and they are still in the same boat.

I like the trade from MN's PoV (not accounting for their cap woes). I don't like it from TOR's PoV simply because Nylander has shown up the last 2 Playoffs, Fiala hasn't.

Nylander is very good and a great value. I think Minnesota would be willing to move Dumba out for a decent package in order to acquire Nylander. That leaves Minnesota with Brodin/Spurgeon Middleton/Goligoski/Merrill/Kulikov/Addison which is a solid top 7.

That is an awful d-corps. It's a 1D, 2 x 4D, and 3 x 6/7 d-men. I can't wait to see a Middleton/Kulikov top pair when Spurgeon and Brodin are out with their yearly injuries,

I think the leafs and wild could make a solid trade overall. But bigger would potentially make sense for both. Something around nylander and kerfoot for dumba and fiala. Solidifies the d and keeps the high skill in Toronto, keeps the D and provides that other wing for the wild but at a slight cap relief.
