Fair offer for the retention and the fact that Burns is still really good. Last thing we need is another goalie though.

With $2 mil retained a year plus taking Hagelin back it’s fair. Sharks just don’t need an overpaid 4th liner and another goalie

37 years old still top 12 in points for dmen. Hasn't missed a game in 9 seasons and played almost 100 more minutes than anyone else in the league last season. You're a blues fan and Burns had 4 fewer points than O'Reilly and outscored all your defensemen by at least 9 points lol but he isn't worth half that. Hypocritical comments. Blocked.

I can tell you're a young kid just from this response. At least I hope you are.
Burns is quite bad at defense. He's old and he's overpaid. He wouldn't be worth much in a trade because of that. That's not even a hot take.

According to this site Jeff Petry is a cap dump. If Petry is a cap dump then an older, more expensive and much worse defensively Burns aint worth anything but pain

Only premium asset the caps give up in the burns trade is a first, which isn't bad, but a burns trade still makes me apprehensive. He fits the same roles as carlson does, is old as hell with three years left, and seems like one of those guys who (a la backstrom) will have their production just suddenly fall off a cliff. Even though retention makes the salary more manageable, i just don't think this is where the caps should be putting their resources. That six million is basically the last cap space the caps will have to add someone to make them as competitive as possible during the ovi years. Would much rather them keep the first rounder and spend that money on nichuskin, trochek or copp in FA.
