Only premium asset the caps give up in the burns trade is a first, which isn't bad, but a burns trade still makes me apprehensive. He fits the same roles as carlson does, is old as hell with three years left, and seems like one of those guys who (a la backstrom) will have their production just suddenly fall off a cliff. Even though retention makes the salary more manageable, i just don't think this is where the caps should be putting their resources. That six million is basically the last cap space the caps will have to add someone to make them as competitive as possible during the ovi years. Would much rather them keep the first rounder and spend that money on nichuskin, trochek or copp in FA.
