What is the cost

Description
Rumor has it these 1st round picks are available for roster players due to the lack of depth of this draft. Assuming the only roster players not available from the Habs are Suzuki and Caufield, what would be the cost to acquire each of these picks. Remember only roster players are reportedly of interest so no 1st's or top prospects and only draft picks or B/C level prospects to balance the deals.

If we're trading our 1st round pick, the only player we could be interested in is Dvorak.

And Montreal would have to add quite a bit.

Using your parameters, I can't see us being interested in anything else.

If the Devils are essentially trading away Slafkovsky or Cooley, I've gotta think they're going to target Cole Caufield. Not a power forward, but for the #2 pick, I want a top-6 impact player & that's Caufield.

EDIT** Personally, I don't think a trade like this would make sense for Montreal or New Jersey

I would do Dvo and maybe our 2nd or a prospect like Tuch or Struble. The parameters were not mine (other than protecting Suzuki and Caufield) the rumors were that each team prefers roster players as outlined above over picks or prospects.

The rumor is that the Devils are looking for a young top 6 forward capable of playing a power forward type of game or a top 4 D.

"They would love to find a young scoring winger who can play a power forward type of game and they would love to find some goaltending help for Mackenzie Blackwood. With the #2 pick in hand, and a young forward like Pavel Zacha who isn't likely back with the hockey club, Fitzgerald has a couple of assets to consider moving to upgrade his hockey club. The Devils trade rumors are starting to heat up!"

I'd say Romanov and Caufield are of interest.

I'd also take a shot at Drouin, but for nothing really of value.

That's not getting it done.

Sorry.

Either Suzuki and Caufield would likely be essential.

Unless Montreal adds substantially to a package centred on Dvorak.

Using the Dvorak trade with Arizona as a template, I'd be happy to offer you our 2 second round picks for 2022.

Best I can do.

I wouldn't for 13th but if the Devils wanted him for 2nd or the Sens for 7th we have enough LHD prospects to ease the blow there as long as we get one of Jiricek or Nemec.

LMAO for 13th are you nuts? Drouin (retained) + something else minor sure but not on your life are we doing any young core players for 13th.

Agreed, I just don't see other options for the Isles to move their 1st to MTL. Maybe they would take a shot on Edmundson for a lesser package, seems like he was solid when he came back this year.

Is it LD you need? Eddy + maybe a 2023 2nd for 13th kind of makes sense to me since the 2023 picks are more valuable.

Yeah, The article says scoring power forward so I immediately thought of Anderson + something else (maybe we take back cap as well) but I wanted Jersey fans opinions on the rumors seeing as I am not too familiar with their needs.

LD is the Isles biggest need right now. They need a solid LD to pair with Dobson on the 2nd pair and I like the fit Edmundson would have with him, but not at the cost of a 1st. I think it would be more of Edmundson + 4th, for a 2nd.

Only players on the Habs that would fill the Islanders' most glaring needs (puck-moving LD2 & a scoring winger) are Romanov & Caufield. I think a package with the Islanders 1st + more for Caufield would work; I know he's probably more valuable than just a one for one with that pick.

I'd argue that Montreal adds to Romanov if the Isles are sending #13. Romanov is a fine player, but he's a defensive Dman and that's not exactly what the Islanders are looking for. Considering he was a 2nd round pick a few years ago and is already due an RFA raise that probably will pay him somewhere in the $2-2.5M range, I'd think that Montreal is getting too much value getting a late lottery pick for him without sending anything else along. I think you could base the deal around #13 for Romanov and #33? I think the issue is that the two teams just don't line up very well for a trade with that pick.

I agree just wonder if multiple teams are worried about the odds of Slaf flaming out. Cooley and Slaf have really high ceilings but they could just as easily flame out hence the reason I think this rumor surfaced. In all honesty though I don't see too many teams trading their 1sts this year was just looking at options.

I don't think MTL would do Romanov and 33 for 13. Giving Romanov to climb 20 spots in a weak draft would be an overpay. Edmundson would be a fair price to climb 20 spots.

I think if NYI want to win now, Eddy would be a better fit. He would be the perfect partner for Dobson, and is a playoffs beast.

At 3.5M, he easily fit on your cap, and play top 4 minutes for the next 2 years. And he'll be 30 when his contract ends, you could sign him to an extension.

I know it's not a "sexy" move, but getting a 6'5 vet to play with Dobson, only to move 20 spots down, would be a good move for the Isles.

Giving up the isles 13 pick to get Joel Edmundson would go down as one of the worst trades of the last decade. They don't need a 6'5 vet to play with Dobson, they can give a 3rd for Mike Reilly or sign someone like Ian Cole or Kulak in free agency.
