Not a canes fan but Jarvis seems to be off the table unless it is like a McDavid offer. He is too good and young to be moved for aging players who do not fit Carolina's timeline as well. (not saying he is anywhere near McDavid but his production at 925k is worth far more than a PPG player at 6-8 mil)

I don't think the hawks are going to move Toews for only a 3rd. At half retained they should be able to move him for a 2nd. As a 3C he is very very good. Still one of the best at the dot and defensively still a great player.

There's nothing wrong with Schmidt's contract. He scores on par with Hronek, is a better shotblocker, and has 75% more takeaways. His contract is roughly 1-1.5 million too high but that's irrelevant for Detroit, it's also the reason he's so cheap to get. He will solidify the left side and mentor Seider as well as QB the 2nd PP and can also play on the right side should Seider or Hronek be injured. Detroit can easily trade him in two years time due to their ability to retain salary and the expected rise in cap. Schmidt will be 32 in two years time and for 3 million in cap and 2.5 in actual salary there won't be a shortage of trade partners.
