I get you wanna tank, but at the same time you should not want to give away the teams best dman even if he is overpaid by 1.5 million or so. The hawks pipeline is weak at best. KD is kind of stuck gathering fresh talent through the draft while simultaneously not being able to trade his roster of players away.

Exactly this. Is the jones contract bad? Yea but not as bad as people on here make it out to be. He's still a good top pair defenseman. Hawks will be bad enough if they just resign Lankinen and Delia. If it wasn't for fleury they'd have a much worse record this season. A full season of Lankinen and Delia as the 2 goalies should be enough to be a bottom 3 team in the league.

Not selling low on Jones, absolutley not retaining for 8 years. Hawks lost the Jones trade but people need to get over it. HE was still good this year and will still be at an age were he has multiple years of good hockey left after this rebuild. Jones is here to stay whether hawks like it or not. I would call him the least likley player on the entire roster to be moved

Not a fan of NJD deal. I have nothing against Seth Jones, but we have Dougie, Severson (who is likely to get extended in off-season), a bunch of young dman who play RD….and potentially Simon Nemec. If we are going to burn a high pick, it will be on a goalie or a top-6 forward.

Well you'd use your 2OA on Slafkovsky which is a top 6 LW. Not sure NJ is in need of Nemec but you'd know more than me.

The pick is the 2023 pick. I'm assuming your offense takes a step forward and so does your Defense with the addition of Jones. So the pick should be in the 10s. It's also top 2 protected.

I hate it. I hate it with every fiber of my being. I didn't want Jones on the team to begin with. It was a desperate move by a desperate GM on a hot seat and now the Hawks have missed out on a 12OA, 6OA and are stuck with an albatross of a contract he can't/won't live up to. I'm so frustrated and angry every time I think about it.

I hate it too. If I ever took the time to look back through my post history I would find myself last summer telling every CBJ fan it made no sense for the hawks to trade for Jones, but here we are. Stuck with it and need to just make the best of it. Stan set the team back another 1-2 additional years than they probably would have been, but at least KD seems to be prepared to build this thing the right way. Blackhawks hockey is going to be a lot tougher to watch the next 3-5 years, and we're going to shake out all the bandwagons that become fans in the 2010s, but we will be a better team in the long term because of it. Hawks needed a fresh start from multiple aspects, on and off the ice, and that is what we are going to get

I wanted the hawks to get jones. Didn't think the trade was as bad as it turned out. Thought they'd be in the playoff race this season and it'd be a mid round pick. The contract isn't the worst but it should've been 1 mil aav cheaper.
