i can see detroit taking petry but moving hronek doesn't make sense. they need to build their dcore.

armia at half price isn't that good of a deal that he gets a 2nd. but tampa's window is closing fast. maybe a 4th

change norlinder for guhle maybe but yea i cant see florida doing that trade.

only one that has even the slightest chance of happening is the Florida trade - I could see if you upgraded Norlinder to Guhle they'd jump all over it, since Bobrovsky is still going to be their guy for 4 more years and Knight's probably going to push to get starter's minutes somewhere soon.

the rest of the trades are just silly, though. Armia doesn't get anywhere near a 2nd back even with retention, I can't see Detroit throwing in a solid prospect to a deal where they're also acquiring Jeff Petry, and that Boston trade is so bad that you'd have 30 other teams lining up to beat it - it's literally a cap dump, an undrafted UFA you signed 7 months ago, and a 3rd.

Detroit has ZERO interest in Petry and that's for free, sending back Hronek for that return isn't even in the right universe of value.

You're paying to get rid of Dvorak. Xhekaj doesn't really have any value and the 3rd (probably the best piece in the deal) is meh.

Why would they have to pay to move Dvorak?

Well if the the opinion of the CF community is that Coyle is a cap dump then Dvorak would be as well.

Habs pass on the Knight trade easily. Roy is not just a high end prospect. Hes the best player/prospect in the Q right now and has high end potential alone. Plus goalies do not have as much value as centres generally speaking. In hindsight, hes a first round talent from that draft class.

Except that Dvorak is four years younger, signed till he is 30 not 35 and has no trade protection. The player your getting in Dvorak won't have any decline in this contract, while Coyles contract will be nothing but down hill from here.

Dvorak in his prime was less productive then a "declining" Coyle this year, let that sink in. I said it during the summer when the Dvorak hype train was full steam ahead and I maintain that he's a 2C on a bad team but a 3C on a contender.....just like Coyle. Let's not forget either that Dvorak is coming off back to back season missing significant time due to injury.

He played 30 less games and finished with 10 less points while playing under a coach that no one could generate points for the entire first half of the season. Also didn't miss any games last year and only 12 the year before so don't know where you're getting that injury judgement from. And everyone knows he's a 2/3 C depending on who's ahead of him. Point remains he has more value then Coyle.

Dvorak was a hot commodity on the market last year and produced up to his standards this year. There's is anything that suggests he'd have lost any value, except the -1 term on his contract. He was off at the beginning of the season like the rest of the team was and while the team was depleted, but put up a respectable 17 pts in 22 games after he came back.

He's not signed into his mid 30s like Coyle, is younger than Coyle, is cheaper than Coyle, doesn't have Coyle's NMC, and has never shown what he can do on a half-decent team unlike Coyle.

Habs paying to get rid of Dvorak or him being a cap dump just isn't a thing, if he was made available there'd be significant interest league-wide just like there was last year.

You're right a year between, my mistake.

Look we'll agree to disagree. He's not going to get any better as he's in his peak years. Coyle also isn't going to get any better, so at this juncture they both are what they are. 3C's on a good team with a cap hit within $800k of each other. He's certainly not worth DeBrusk as OP has here and he's not even worth what MTL traded for him.

He's very probably worth more than DeBrusk on the market, mainly because of the position he plays.

He's $800k cheaper, which is just over a league minimum contract (so not really a significant amount). Sure he's younger, but its not like he's still developing. Both he and Coyle are what they are at this point. Coyle also doesn't have a full NMC and starting this year he can only block a trade to 8 teams. Dvoark has spent 6yrs in the league with over 350gp. To basically point the finger and say he has never shown what he can do because of the teams he plays for is just an excuse.

We'll agree to disagree and move on with our days. It sounds like MTL fans are really happy to have Dvorak which is great for them.

We'll agree to disagree. DeBrusk in 37 less games (and about 1,000 less minutes) has only 3 less points than Dvoark and that's with him have an abysmal year last year.

It may just be a matter of preference and some bias at that point. It's just unfair that you include DeBrusk's bad season last year in the comparison without considering Dvorak's teams and linemates being significantly worse than DeBrusk's through their careers.

Take the statement out then... it changes nothing lol. DeBrusk in about 1,000 less minutes and less game has 3 less points then Dvorak.

Players values are solely based on points totals?

We could go on all day, just saying Habs wouldn't trade Dvorak for DeBrusk and that he likely has more value on the market.

Great because we don't need another Charlie Coyle on the team lol. Not to mention goal scoring is a premium and DeBrusk ranks inside the top 40 of LW's in goals scored over the last 3 seasons. Again I'm glad MTL fans are happy to have Dvorak and I'm happy he's within the division playing a larger role then he should be.
