I have zero interest in Nylander, the Sabres have a ton of skilled wings I don't think they need another. Particularly one that's not willing to go into the corners and fight for the puck.

He is a point a game guy this year who got two goals in that game where everyone is ripping him apart in. Last year playoffs he was the leafs best player

I didn't mean that as a dig at Nylander, he is a good player. But the sabres already have those kind of guys in Thompson, Olofsson, Krebs and Quinn. They need to balance those guys out with more power guys like Tuch and Okposo. Those kind of guys will go into the corner and get the puck out so the skilled guys can score. They just need a bit morebBallance.

Idk when a guy would lead the sabres in points this year I take that guy 10 out of 10 times

He’s got talent, but he has no guts. You can’t have a team full of perimeter players and hope to get anywhere. If the Sabres are making a move for a top 6 winger it should be Debrincat. The odds of that are pretty slim, and so are the odds of this trade happening.

He’s spent his entire career being all flash and no grit. One goal doesn’t change that. I stand by the general consensus that Buffalo could use more players like Alex Tuch instead of him. Also, I think everyone agrees DeBrincat is a better player. Still, if he’s so important Toronto isn’t trading him anyway.

Im just curious as to why buff doesnt want point per game players... we did not have one this year. I get you cant have all the same players but when this player is better than all of the same "type" that are currently on buffalo then why wouldnt you get him and trade one of them...

One begins to question which guy carries the other between Matthews and Nylander. I don’t think Thompson is necessarily the sniper that Austin Matthews is, but I also don’t want to take Alex Tuch off that line because if it doesn’t broke don’t fix it. Particularly with Okposo nearing the end of his contract, who knows if he wants to continue playing after that? Buffalo needs more physical wingers, because Peterka and Quinn are not built like that. Even the most talented perimeter players only scare teams when they have to worry about guys who go to the net when that guy has the puck.

Okposo, Tuch, and Thompson showed willingness to go to the net this year. Skinner surprised me showing a willingness to get inside the circle and create plays in addition to shooting from the outside. Unless Apslund gets a lot bigger he doesn’t have enough size to go to the net with regularity and make things happen. Unless somebody will get inside the box it makes it too easy for defenders to keep players to the outside and let the goaltender see everything. That’s why you can’t invest a significant piece of your future in another perimeter talent for the top 6.

Matthews plays with marner, not nylander. Nylander is better than all of the wingers currently on the sabres team based off this last year. Only one relatively close is tuch because of all of the other things he brings. What exactly is the significant piece they are giving up for a guy who has 17 points in his last 16 playoff games.

Even if he’s not playing with Matthews he’s on the ice with Tavares instead, Who despite getting older and declining with age has a Pedegree that not one Sabres player currently has. Even so, I’m sure they play power play together. Looking at this particular trade offer I’m not sure Toronto would take it. among all the reasons I’ve given why I wouldn’t trade for him I didn’t even mention he’s only got a two year deal to UFA. With all the contracts the Sabres have expiring in the next two years, and all the money they will have to pay out to keep those players, it’s probably not very smart to bury a lot of money into a player that inevitably will not be worth what he’s going to ask for. I say that because there are very few players that make $10 million a year or more that are actually worth it.
