Description

The fact that this roster is sitting right at the cap ($82.5M next year not 81.5) is insane. Contracts soon due for Laf, Miller, Chytil. Can move Reaves money and plug in someone like Cuylle, but that's obviously a small dent. These playoffs have shown how needed players like Copp, Blais, and Motte are; cannot let them go. I have no idea how this is going to work, looking at '23-'24 especially. Lmk your thoughts. The big contracts can't be moved. If we let both Copp and Strome walk it's a disaster down the middle though I have been floored by Chytil these games, some of his best hockey. Tough decisions to make.

Think you need at least 21 players but you can probably get that money from your Kakko contract. He probably gets something in between Chytil and Lindgren.

On a minor note I also don’t envision Othmann playing in the NHL next season.

I for one, was not suprised one bit by the kids lines performance

Also Blais' injury probably insured that hes not getting anything more than his QO (1.6 million)

It’s either NHL or OHL no in between. Maybe he’ll get a 9 game audition to start the season, but he’ll need to be as good as Cole Sillinger to stay.

Good points. Maybe another million or two from Kakko and Blais if truly an overpay which I don't necessarily agree with. Still, a million of that goes to Braun-Nemeth type bc we've seen their love for Jones. Down to a million or less again.

Problem is Othmann is too young to play in the AHL if he can't stick with NYR....and I think Cuylle is in the same situation. BUT...both are young enough to allow their ELC to slide for 1 more year- this might be key to helping manage the CAP going forward. So, unless either crushes it in camp- showing they absolutely belong in NHL right now- both will be back in the juniors next year.
