I think oilers aren't interested in moving JP at min value. He generates too much defensively and is too cost controlled for the oil to not keep him. Every line he has been on dominates 5v5 so, don't see Kenny moving JP

I could see ken holland moving him but it has to be for someone over 34 getting overpaid to eliminate all cap space the oilers have, maybe like jamie benn

This ken holland not peter chiarelli. he's shown he isn't willing to move JP and he wouldn't move him for a guy that will cost more on the cap and is much worse defensively

And that means he'd give up a young, cost-controlled, defensively elite guy? Doubt it. He's stuck to not moving his very good young guys so far in edmonton and I don't expect that to change. Hes not trading JP at min value.

Duncan keith is worth full value. He also reserves salary for Bouchard after his ELC.

If Edmonton is trading JP it is to keep the cap down and sign evander kane. It won't be for a player with a 3 or 4 million dollar salary unless its a goalie.

JP is worlds better defensively and even with a career-low sh% is hovering in the neighbourhood of Olofsson's goal total this yr. Plus olofson has arb rights and is a few yrs older so anything with term will cost a lot cause you'd be buying a lot more UFA yrs. JP has to grow his offensive game yes but, his defensive game crushes olofssons

Yeah I mean a guy who cant put up 40 points while playing with two fellas who put up 130 is a great stat. Also olofsson put up 49 points while not being able to shoot for 40 games due to an injury. I do not think I could dream up a more perfect linemate for mcdavid than Vic.

No Actually. keith had a slow start to the season but has been good beside bouchard. His contract ends and bouchard's starts.

yes. his name is kane. JP this season was one of the best play drivers in the NHL 5v5 and make his linemates better. I'd rather have JP than olofsson cause the difference defensively is night and day, will be more cost effective over a long period of time, and will definitely not be riding a career low SH% his whole career. Oilers don't need VO.

But he doesn't have multiple 20 goal seasons and is further away from UFA so his arb number will be much lower for a longer term deal. Defence is very undervalued and a slow year offensively gives the oilers the opportunity to sign him cheap for term before he shakes off a slow offensive season.

One of the dumbest things I have read is saying it is a reserve for bouchard.... Skinners contract is a nice reserve for the sabres first round pick in 2025. Wouldnt you just rather have the cap space and use it more effectively instead of being an idiot

You realize that teams have to hit rock bottom and sell off draft top 5 usually to get a player like Bouchard right? You can't just trade for a number 1 Dman you have to draft them and make sure you give them a long term team friendly contract. Bouchard will probably get 6x6.

Puljujarvi is the more valuable player and it's not close.

Bouchard's already scoring at higher rates than Dahlin, and his higher IPP tells us it's not due to his teammates.
