It's been pretty much confirmed that the plan is to sign Wallstedt to his ELC and get him over to North America next season. However, they want him to spend at least a year down in the AHL to adjust to North American hockey and its pace. Which is much faster here.
Besides, Guerin and Evason don't rush their prospects. They gotta pay their dues and earn their spots. It's a character challenge thing for them, beyond just making sure a player is ready before giving them NHL icetime.
